I felt cheated. Came in, Bought tickets told to wait 10 minutes. Went in and they straight away guided us through until the pouring demonstration which was only like a 5 minute show with no interesting points. After that they ushered us out to the shopping section.
I don't think they qualify to be called a museum. RM28 and u get a RM20 voucher for purchases over RM200.
I felt like I was paying RM20 for the voucher and RM8 is the price for the 5 minute "museum".
TERRIBLE!

Its an eye opening experience to explore a mock - up mine with lots of educational information about the history of gold.
The river gold mining experience was tiring yet fun, sifting through the basin of sand for gold. Finding one gold nugget among the haystick of sand was a joyful moment for me.
Silver melting experience was a rare experience to see how precious metal is being melt and cast into various shapes & sizes.

This was a short history of gold mining and it does seem like the motive was for you to end up at the souvenir store at the end selling their jewellery. The kids (aged 6 and 8) thought it was fun and interesting coz it was short enough to keep their attention. I think we finished the “tour” in 30-45mins.
There are better places to visit in Penang.

In 2017 my family visited PG gold museum and they had a lot of fun and took a wonderful picture. In my visit to Penang I made the destination upon my arrival and it was worth the coming to Penang. Staff were super nice, you have your time to dig for the gold and the gift shop down is good place to buy silver gifts

Visited PG Gold Museum on 18.8.19, guide only told us where to take photo, demonstrated how silver is melted, could NOT answer any questions.
Rushed us through to the Gold Shop at the end.
When we requested to head back in to go thru the exhibits, and to read the banners / information at our own pace - we were flatly denied and was told we were at the gift / gold shop and can't head back.
NOT a museum - as everyone was only interested in selling products.
WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!

It's a mini gold museum. Give little to limited information about gold. The guide just want to rush through to the end of the tour. Guess what, at the end of the tour, there is a jewellery showroom with sales personnel trying to sell you jewellery. That's the whole point of the Gold museum. "Gold Museum" is a trap. They just want tourist to go to the museum, and end up in the jewellery showroom to buy jewellery from them. All tourists and locals should avoid this museum. You can learn more history about Gold from Google than this museum. By the way, the entrance tickets is not cheap either. Avoid at all cost.

Paid over 80+ ringgit for the 3 of us. The tour guide was not very enthusiastic. It was actually quite interesting until we were about to leave and a group of 3 women entered and asked for a discount and I overheard them say that he would grant them a discount and they would only have to pay 50 ringgit for the 3 of them. So the overpriced amount of 86 ringgit really felt like a rip off. Enter with CAUTION.

接待人员非常友善热情,了解黄金是如何被淘出来的,老人家喜欢黄金,所以比较带劲。一路也是都有空调,还比较冷。出口的小纪念品处有很多金箔做的东西可以买。
