We enjoyed visiting the cave. Our tour guide was Abbie. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and energetic. We went around 11am-noon. Perfect time to join a small group. There were only about 10 people total. It was perfect! We saw much larger groups along the way and were thankful for our small group. I will say the hike into the cave was much harder that the hike out...lots of steps along the way in and out. Cash payment alone...so be prepared if you visit.

This was a fine adventure for a multi generational family - ages 13-76. The tour was about 1 1/2 hours and took us through 6 or 7 interesting rooms replete with a reasonable quantity of stalagmites, stalactites and cave bacon (the largest of which was named Kevin!) . Pathways were well lighted and laid out. Key cave landmarks were nicely displayed. The highlight was our guide, Tyler, who was very knowledgeable about the history of the cave and its many features and presented his information with humor and charm. The reservation and ticketing was well handled.

We took a side detour to stretch and visit Minnetonka on a long road trip day of our vacation. Our experience was ruined by our very immature and ineffective tour guide, Dakota. He spent precious little time giving us information about the cave and the formations within. He spent most of his time bragging on himself and his accomplishments, egging on an obnoxious 11-year-old child on the tour, and flirting with that child’s 14-year-old sister. Unfortunately, the father of those children chimed right in. We had a fairly small tour group of about 15 people total. Dakota was completely oblivious that the rest of us on the tour did not find their banter interesting or entertaining. All of his “jokes“ fell flat. He was completely inept at engaging the whole group, and didn’t appear to understand that that was his job. I hope that this review encourages management to spend a little more time training and observing the college kids they hire as summer tour guides.

Took our family (with young children) to experience this. Our tour guide Jared, was very knowledgeable and aware of our timid littles. He helped them feel comfortable and was patient with our needed pace.

Interesting to visit. The hike into the cave can be strenuous, especially wearing a mask. Reservations are needed and you must be at the cave to make them. Beautiful canyon and a fun experience.

We've done caves before, but this was amazing. Lots of history of the steps being built and my IWatch said I did the whole days exercise in the 2 hour tour. They recommend jackets, but I say take gloves for the cold hand rails. 888 steps to climb is not for the faint of heart, but at 67 I was able to keep up with our guide, she was delligent at making sure it was a slow climb.

What can we say! This is a pretty impressive place, full of wonder and thrills. We took our 3 little girls on this tour and felt pretty safe about it the whole time. Our tour guide was witty; making it more fun and less stressful. Granted, it does take a bit of time to drive to from the main highway, but there are several campsites along the way if you're looking for a place. Even if you're staying at Bear Lake, you might as well see it since you're practically there. It is worth it!

My wife and I stopped by during a day off. It was well worth the trip. It is too bad they had some vandalism early on, but they did a great job correcting it.
It is so peaceful up there as you are about 10 miles off the road. Must see.

Our family has a cabin in Bear Lake but this is the first time we have done the cave. It is well worth the time. Beautiful drive to the cave. Cave is very interesting with all the features you would expect. Tour guides were very good and made it interesting.
Be aware that you need a jacket and gloves! Handrails are metal and they get cold. The tour lasts 1 1.2 hours and there are a lot of stairs and slick surfaces.
They give a discount on tour tickets if you have a National Park Golden Passport. 62+

How far is the trail to the caves? Can child pack packs go through the caves?
Tammy L

It's not a far walk to the cave. I don't know about child backpacks. They won't let you take any water in with you.
How much does it cost to go through the cave
$8.00 for adults (16 years or older)
$6.00 for children (6 to 15 years)
Children under 5 years old are free

You can go without reservations however you do need to get there early in order to sure you get tickets. I would also recommend if you're waiting for your timeslot to hit the Paris ice caves
crowded on July 4th weekend? are reservations required or can we just show up?

I wouldn't know if it's going to be crowded there. When we were there last year it was just show up and nothing like reservations in place. The queue to get in was rather long though (i.e. we needed to wait for 1.5 h after purchase of the tickets).
Is the cave open past Labor Day?
Craig H
Logan, UT
Past years it closes the day after Labor Day. Depending on the year, it could be open weekends, after Labor Day but not in October. Once October rolls around, the cave will be closed to help with the migration of bats that come there every year. It will reopen around Memorial Day, depending on snow levels. Call before making the trip.
