- Manueljoseacosta0 aportesSitio muy bien montado con TODAEl sitio cuenta con todos los juguetes para el agua y otros. Tienen Katamaran, kite, windsurf, SUP, bicis, entre otros. Yo estuve haciendo Kite, llevé mi propio equipo sin embargo salí de AAV todos los dìas que hice. El Spot es bastante rachudo por lo que recomiendo llevar bow kites (en la medida de lo posible. de los 9 dìas que navegue 8 de ellos usé cometa 10m y un dìa me quedé un poco corto. Mi hijo de 11 años estuvo aprendiendo con Chema... (superprofe) lo dejo arrancando para ambos lados. Todos los equipos estàn en muy buen estado y las instalaciones son 1a tienen sombrita para quien no quiera navegar y cuenta con ducha de agua dulce para la salida. El sitio es muy sabroso. La mejor playa para hacer snorkelingEs una playa espectacular para hacer snorkeling ( mucha variedad de peces y corales para ver) no es necesario contratar ninguna excursion con solo tomar el autobus o los buses que por solo 3 dolares te llevan, te bajas en Malmok y ya estas en la playa; tambien lo he hecho caminando desde Palm Beach por la playa. Hay unas sombrillas que te podes acomodar sin ningun costo, eso si para poder acceder a una de ellas tenes que llegar temprano, ya que la gente va llegando hacia el mediodia ( los domingos hay mucha gente). Lo unico que hay que llevarse algo para tomar o comer ya que no hay nada para que te vendan algo fresco. No dejen de visitar esa playa es espectacular !!!!Escrita el 26 de septiembre de 2016

Even though I was traveling alone, I always felt welcome here, Aruba Active Vacations was a point of reference for me!
It was my first experience in kite, positive experience with various instructors. Sport that seemed impossible to me, but that the instructors managed to transmit to me in a friendly and clear way (i understood the lessons even if I wasn't very good with english!).
I also recommend the mountain bike tour: it has a fun route and a beautiful view to see! the mountain bike route is adapted according to the level of each participant.
It was my first experience in kite, positive experience with various instructors. Sport that seemed impossible to me, but that the instructors managed to transmit to me in a friendly and clear way (i understood the lessons even if I wasn't very good with english!).

Worth it. My sister and I had such a great time. Brand new to windsurfing so we appreciated the patience and encouragement of our instructor, Tristen. I look forward to doing this again and I would book another adventure with AAV!!

We just came back, my son and me we were doing kite surfing and the two little one's windsurfing.
The school is very prepared, and everybody was very friendly with us.
The conditions for kite were not as I was expecting, the wind is offshore and very gusty, too much. I am a beginner thinking to go there to have same fun and easy practice, but unfortunately wasn't like that at all!!! It was very challenging. I had to pay one lesson and every day a 90 usd launch and pick up because it was impossible for me to come back.
The same instructors told me that this is one of the most difficult places to kite due to the strong gust and the wind pulling you out in the ocean. If I would know it before I would definitely choose another location.
Other than that, hey are equipped and they pick you up with the rescue boat.
You have to know that you only have 2 pick-ups before it converts to a lesson of 180 USD which is a point I didn t like. Imagine my first day all excited I go there, and I meet an instructor from venezuela that start telling me is very difficult, probably the most challenging he ever been and that for sure I will not come back and informing me about the prices of pick ups and lessons. Having just finished a course was not what I wanted to listen, but it is ok my bad to didn t inform me better, that is why I mention here.
My son took 4 lessons even if he took before, he had a good time his instructor Tristan was great but he also told me that he got upset many times because of the wind conditions. In another place he could have learnt a way faster. Very important they don t give you any IKO certification.
On this spot as beginner, you lose too much time and strength fighting with the the strong gust or nonwind at all before the current brings you out very far from the beach and you can start to practice a bit more before they rescue you. So, no rest or possibility to come back to the beach for few minutes.
Very important, bring drinks and snacks because there is not bar close by as for the bathroom, the closest is the Ritz Carlton Hotel.

Thanks for your review. Hopefully you still had a good time taking the wind conditions aside. It is maybe a difficult place but also a place where there is a lot to learn. Hopefully you guys still decide to come back sometime and challenge the spot again. Again thanks for your effort to write a review

I am going to write here exactly what I told the lady at the desk. She kept saying I don't understand.
Anyways, here it is:
Before and after the pandemic, I took two days of 2 hours of private kite surfing lessons.
In December 2021, I took one day of 2 hours kit surfing class again. Also, my daughter, who is 16, took an introductory 2 hours.
Of course, this is not a sport you learn in 2 hours, and one needs consistent practice ... not every two years.
I was happy with the service, so this year, I went back.
At that point, I would give this place a 5-star rating.
Last week, I bought two days of 2 hours classes for me and my daughter (16).
The old instructor (an Argentinean guy) was not working there anymore, but the new guy (a Belgian guy, I am sorry, I always forget names) is as good as the previous one.
To my surprise, this time, they didn't have a boat. And for those who did it, you know there is a lot of walking in the water when you do the dragging.
For those who didn't try before, just thinking about it... your instructor better have a boat!
I do not want to exaggerate by saying that half the time, instead of learning and practicing, we were pulling the kite and walking close to the shore, so we didn't pass the buoy.
But I can say without exaggeration that we walked 40 minutes out of the 2 hours. Our last walk towards the shore took 15 minutes on the clock.
So I told the girl at the desk that I was not happy because they didn't provide a boat and half the time we wasted in walking in the water as opposed to my previous two experiences at the same place when we had been assigned a boat.
She kept saying this was not possible because this was not private, it was a group (me and my daughter), but she failed to explain why it cost us 125/hour each and no boat instead of 100$/ hour if private with the boat.
As I had already paid for two days, I had no choice. On the second day, we went again without the boat, and after one hour in which part we walked in the water coming back no to pass the buoy, we went to the shore (15 minutes walking) to take the boat and to save the 15 minutes walking at the end of the class...
This is my last time using the services of Aruba Active Vacations, and I would recommend, if you do, making sure the boat is included. There are other options for kite surfing classes on the same beach, though.
If not for the boat issue and the unprofessional reaction of the girl from the desk, I would not recommend this place to anybody.
Again, I already told them I was going to write a review about it, and they could not care less.

Dear Adrian,
Firstly, and most importantly: our sincere apologies for happily returning to us and then having to leave so disappointed. The team acknowledged indeed that they had difficulties explaining the learning curve of kitesurfing to you. As we tried to make clear, we do use boats from the moment that students start riding. When you arrived, you spoke with one of our IKO instructors and he also explained that we do not teach with the boats from the first lesson because we are practicing in shallow water. In the shallow water, until the buoy, we can’t teach from the boat. We teach from the boats in deeper water, when the students start using the board. I do want to mention that we do always have boats available as we are the only school to have 4 boats in total (in contrast to other kite schools that have 1 or no boats). However, we never use a boat in the beginner lessons. This is what both our kite instructor and the desk tried to explain to you as well. Again, we are very sorry that we couldn’t pass on the information properly. Your daughter understood everything perfectly, but we found it most difficult to make you understand our way of teaching.
The first lessons are always in the shallow water, as we are practicing kite control and body dragging, before we start with the board. The instructor must be with you for safety reasons; he is strapped on to you to hold on to you at any time. For this reason, a boat can’t be used as the instructor has to stay with you. When the students start controlling the kite and making their rides, the instructor grabs a boat right away to do all the practice in the deep water. The group lessons are meant for two persons being on the same level, so they can alternate with the kite and learn from each other by watching and practicing. If students are on different levels, we always advise to take a private lesson to progress at your own level. That way you don’t have to adjust to the student who is in earlier stages of learning how to kitesurf.
Our lady at the desk tried to explain that a group lesson would not be ideal for you and your daughter and that it would be better to split you up, due to the levels. She was a beginner (starting on land and then going in the water to practice kite control first) and you already had some experience. You insisted in the group lesson and since we did not want to contradict, we complied with your request. We adjusted to the level of your daughter; we even gave you a discount to the lessons and still we were not able to make you happy. From our side, we also feel bad about this as we really do want happy customers that enjoy us and the sports. Unfortunately, for everyone this was a challenging situation of which we really care about.

I had 3 private kite surfing lessons with Tom one of there instructors. Lesson provided good one on one instruction with good quality equipment. Each lesson build on what we learned before and always a how to kite surf safely. Everyone was extremely helpful and relaxed. You could tell everyone loved what they were doing, teaching kite surfing. If you are at all interested in kite flying, I can highly recommend this company.

I have had a number of lessons and thanks to the instructor (Gavin) his excellent skills, patience, calm explanation, good communication (speaks several languages) and humor I can kite fairly well and now it comes down to a lot of practice.

Inmiddels 4 lessen van Gavin gehad en het gaat iedere keer steeds beter!
Gavin is rustig, legt goed uit wat je moet doen en doet dit ook actief voor.
Hij neemt de tijd voor je en blijft positief in de communicatie.
Ondanks zijn (jonge) leeftijd vind ik Gavin een hele goeie instructeur!

I can't think of a better way to learn kite surfing fast, than with this team at this location. There is normally a steady offshore breeze which helps with safety - provided the boat with instructor is there at your side - and they are! Tom was the ideal instructor is every way - just the right amount of everything but not overwhelming, from safety to technique to physics and action of the kite. He was also patient with my repeated mistakes. By the 3rd lesson I was up and riding the board for short distances. I think for your mind and body (muscle memory and automatic reflexes) it is better to take a day off between the five lessons but my vacation was not long enough for that. At times I felt my progress was slow but Tom was always encouraging. The other instructors and office staff were all very helpful and friendly, and even let me borrow reef booties for me and my wife for snorkeling at a nearby reef. I hope to return to this site to advance past the beginner stage.

Incredible group of people. If you're thinking of kite boarding or wind surfing, you should 100% go here.
We came here 4 consecutive days of our trip and loved it. I learned to kite board & my wife learned to wind surf. On our last day, there wasn't enough wind to get the kite out but we still stopped by to say hi to Loraine, Tom and the crew. I can't speak highly enough about them. Honest, genuine, and well-informed people. Tom taught me kiteboarding and focused on safety first and foremost. As an engineer, I was pumped that he helped describe kite flying dynamics with Bernoulli's principle! Don't be surprised when you hear it takes 3-4 lessons to get riding despite board sport experience: there are a lot of safety components to this sport that are important to cover before taking off in the deep. By the 3rd day, Tom and my wife were out in the boat and I was able to get both left and right 100-200 meter rides!
By day 2, my wife had greatly improved with windsurfing and was able to come in to shore despite the offshore winds.
Can't wait to get back on a board and so grateful our trip was made special by the Aruba Active Vacations team!

Aruba Active was very easy to coordinate and schedule with. All the employees were friendly and welcoming. They tailored my instruction and equipment to my skill level and were able to advance with me as appropriate. Instructor Gavin was terrific to work with. Very helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. The off shore wind and conditions take some getting used to but their service and support fit the environment. I loved that the beach / area was not nearly as crowded as other places that I have kited. It is a very chill environment. Also, when I could stay upwind, the flat conditions were a real treat. I'd come back again!
