Interesting and varied two weeks in Nepal - hiking, safari and cultural delight!
dic. de 2019
Our group of four (family and friend) joined others to enjoy this fabulous trip offered by HSJ. Our guides, Prakash and Shankah were excellent in organising and ensuring our needs were attended to. The accommodation at the resorts was comfortable and offered a variety of cultural and pampering opportunities. The food was very good and to our surprise the coffee was excellent. The scenery on the hiking part of the trip was magnificent. We would recommend that participants take their own warm sleeping bags if travelling in the cooler months. The accommodations are not heated and the bedding provided is not really warm enough. This was a general comment from our whole group of mainly Australians and New Zealanders. A good selection of food was available at all the stops along the way the hike. We are all very well travelled and we all thought the HSJ put together a great trip that offered a variety of experiences in a beautiful environment. We also thought you got value for money on this trip. Highly recommend that you take the flight option to return from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Well done HSJ and a big thank you to our wonderful guides and porters.

Loved it, thank you Mingmar Sherpa!
ene. de 2020 • Familia
My second trip to Nepal and with HSJ! First was to trek to Everest BC, this time a shorter trek to Poonhill with my parents and we had such a fantastic time together. Views - incredible! Trekking was a good challenge level for me but the lower altitude (Max 3200m) made it easy on the body!
Our guide - Mingmar Sherpa was so kind and caring. He particularly understood my mum needed his care (she is less than 12 months post breast cancer treatment). It meant everything to me that she could come and that she could finish the trek. Honestly, it was Mingmar, and our 2 porters (Deepak and Dikbir) who ensured she made it. I’ll be forever grateful to them - no matter the future, my mum, dad and I did this together. We all cried with joy when we reached Poonhill summit. The view was remarkable. We also saw a Royal Bengal Tiger at chitwan national park. It’s so rare to see! We think it’s a good omen.
Thank you Mingmar, Deepak and Dikbir. Thank you HSJ. Good on you mum.. you made it and we did it together.

Adventure of lifetime
dic. de 2019
My16 yr old grandson and I recently completed the 15 day Nepal trip . Initially I was apprehensive about my ability to complete the trek however concerns quickly put to rest by such patient and encouraging staff . We can’t speak highly enough of our wonderful tour guides Tikaram and Bennie who couldn’t do enough to ensure that we had a fantastic journey . They were available day and night to assist with any problem or concern. We loved Nepal , the spectacular scenery and the beautiful people . Highly recommended for anyone with an open heart and an adventurous soul !

Trip of a lifetime!
An amazing two weeks spent in Nepal!! Our trip was so fantastic and we have our guides Pradip and Binod to thank for making our holiday a trip of a lifetime. They went above and beyond to make sure we were always having a great time. Also thanks to our porters - Dil, Suman, Basanta, Machindra & Ganesh - who are the strongest, kindest and hardest working men I’ve ever had the privilege to meet. And thanks to Arun, our jungle safari guide in the Chitwan region.

HSJ took care of absolutely everything from beginning to end and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to explore Nepal.

A taste of everything Amazing that is Nepal!
ene. de 2020 • Familia
Our daughter had completed the trek to Everest base camp a year ago with this fantastic company. She loved it so much she asked us to come with her. We had never trekked, nor had we done a group tour before. Not surprisingly we were a little worried before we arrived. Would we be able to complete the trek? How would we go on a tour, always on the move etc. Our worry disappeared the moment we landed at the airport and met our tour guide, Mingmar Sherpa. He instantly put us at ease with his perfect English, his easy going manner and his quick wit. Mingmar stayed with us for the entire trip. Instead of feeling like we were under pressure we felt the exact opposite - relaxed and cared for. Mingmar knew what we wanted or needed BEFORE we even asked. He was a true delight. The whitewater rafting was hilarious and so much fun. We saw monkeys and vultures and just had a great day. Yes we got wet, yes we were a little cold (it’s mid winter),but all of that added to our fun. Our 6 day trek was incredible. We had 2 porters - Deepak and Dikbir and boy were they fantastic. They too worried about our happiness and enjoyment as their main priority. No matter what the day had bought and how heavy the load they had carried .. they just always smiled and helped and were so happy.
The weather for us was perfect at the right times - clouds lifted on the morning of our Poonhill summit. Sunrise was breath taking on top of the world. The view was incredible. It rained a little only on part of 1 day ... no problem .. rain covers were purchased (cheaply) and we continued. Snow fell in thick glorious flakes but only for the last 15 mins before we reached Gorapani... instead of being cold we were exhilarated. Snowmen and a thick white blanket just added to the beauty. Then, when we thought it could not get any better .. it did. We peaked another summit, sun shining and a half metre of fresh powder ... and saw, what felt like, the entire world before us. Mountains and hills in every direction. That same day, we faced tough and icy steps over a steep descent. I was scared but the “boys” rallied, held my hand, cleared a safe snow path, and quietly whispered words of encouragement to keep me going. It was a splendid thing that day. I put my fear aside and just believed in the boys, I knew nothing bad would happen in their care.
We were a small group of 5, plus the 3 boys! We became a little family so quickly. It was sad to say goodbye to Dikbir and Deepak at the end of the trek.
After the trek we had glorious accommodation with hot showers and we ate some amazing meals in Pokhara. Then we headed to Chitwan national Park. Amazing accomodation (we upgraded our package and it was money well spent). We were on the border of the national park and saw wild deer as soon as we arrived. We did the rainforest walk and came across more deer, mongoose, monkey and birds. It was fantastic, but we didn’t met the one horned rhino! Next day, we boarded our gorgeous elephant and headed out again .. YES we saw rhino!!! AND WE SAW A ROYAL BENGAL TIGER! It was rare to see and topped off our trip in a way we could not have imagined. The last few days we spent relaxing at the final resort. Also fantastic.
Nepal is amazing. The Nepalese are the kindest people. The scenery is breath taking. Our guide fantastic. Our porters incredible. The trip - one filled with life time memories. We will be back, and we will definitely use Himalayan social journey. Value for money YES!!!

Adventure, luxury and beauty in Nepal
ene. de 2020 • Pareja
Wow, what an amazing holiday/experience we have had in this beautiful country. Himalayan Social Journey could not do enough for us. Our guide Mingmar was absolutely fantastic right from the beginning when we met him. He always made sure we were ok, explained everything thoroughly and his knowledge on such a wide variety of subjects is phenomenal. Our porters Deepak and Bildic were so helpful and always had a smile on their face, we had a lot of laughs with the 3 of them. Couldn’t ask for better service.
As for the trip it was a great adventure with the right balance of excitement and luxury. The scenery is stunning and unforgettable, the Nepalese people are beautiful.

Amazing adventure with amazing people
ene. de 2020 • Pareja
My cousin & his wife suggested this trip as a way for us all to spend time together & have an adventure. We live on opposite sides of the world so Nepal was a great meeting point and none of us has been before.
One of our guides; Tikaram met us at the airport, all smiles and chatter from the off, put us at ease and helped us settle into Kathmandu. His smiles and enthusiasm lasted the entire trip, his boundless energy keeping us all going when the going got tough.
We had arrived a few days before our group so had a chance to explore the bustling dusty chaos that is Kathmandu and we loved it. Everyone was kind, and welcoming.
We met up with our other guide Binod (Bonnie), who showed us a great place to stock up on supplies and gear for the trip. Binnie was a kind and calming influence throughout our trip, with a big smile and some great stories!
We were a group of 10 altogether from 16 to 68, 6 of us in our early 50s.
Our first adventure was white water rafting on Christmas day. It was freezing! And exhilarating we loved it.
The trek began in earnest a day later and it was mostly up, as you would expect. We met our lovely porters, Sudip, Prakash and Rajesh, who with unwavering strength carried our bags, gave us encouragement and helped us through tricky passes with kind words and smiles. For the first day much of the path was stone steps, The pace always good with lots of breaks and the weather amazing. Through the rhododendron forests.
Our luck with the weather continued all week with blue skies all day so views of the mountains possible all the time.
Our accommodation on the trek was basic, but a good choice of food which I wasn't expecting, always cooked well and with lots of flavour. Breakfast was huge.
I was a little sick when we got to high camp, probably dehydration and altitude, but Binnie and Tika checked my vitals and I was much better once we started our decent the following morning, which was my birthday. Little did I know but our guides had planned a surprise for me, and our hosts that evening (to far from shops to buy a cake) made me one in a frying pan on top of the wood burner.
It was delicious and big enough for everyone to share. Tika would have sung happy birthday all night if I'd let him. The following night was another birthday and new years eve, we had a great party in the evening and danced around the fire, to local music, those boys can dance!
The good weather continued until we got back to Pokhara, tired and triumphant.
Pokhara was laid back in comparison to Kathmandu, a city by the lake, calmer, cooler, quieter. Finally onto Chitwan, where we saw Rhino, crocodile, deer, monkeys and countless birds.
What an amazing experience, made so much more by our fellow travellers but especially our wonderful guides and porters. Thank you for taking so much care of us

The local people really made the trip fantastic!
ene. de 2020
We had a fantastic experience in Nepal with Himalayan Social Journey (HSJ).
From start to finish we were very well looked after. We went sight-seeing in Kathmandu before our trek, then white-water rafting on the way to Pokhara. We climbed for 4 days and ascended for two days with our fantastic guides Binod & Tikaram and cheerful (and strong!) porters Sudip, Rajesh & Prakash. After trekking we chose the luxury hotel accommodation option in Chitwan National Park. The Kasara Resort was lovely, and the jeep safari was a highlight! However, we were not so impressed with our last night's accomodation at Gokarna Forest Resort, where the food was very average and the hotel was absolutely freezing!

It was the attention and care of our guides and porters that really made the trip a success. I got quite ill during the climb and was very weak as a result. Binod and Tikaram both went 'above and beyond' to help me (even going as far as offering to carry me at one point!) They made sure I was safe and constantly checked on my wellbeing.

Two people in our group of ten, enjoyed birthdays while we were on the mountain and our guides made great efforts to insure they were honoured, even arranging a 'mountain cake' made with very limited ingredients! We also spend New Year's Eve with our fellow adventurers and it was a joy to be able to dance, drink, eat and sing with our guides and porters. It made the evening unforgettable!

HSJ were very easy to deal with and well organised regarding our travel plans.

I would highly recommend HSJ and would be happy to use them again!

Excellent adventure & trekking towards Mardi Himal
ene. de 2020 • Amigos
My wife and I had a wonderful experience in Nepal with Himalayan Social Journey (HSJ). The 15 day adventure included sight-seeing in Kathmandu and Pokhara, white-water rafting on the Trishuli river, and 7 days of trekking towards the Mardi Himal base camp reaching a view point at 4200m. After trekking we chose the luxury hotel accommodation in Chitwan National Park and met their local Elephant Sandra. We went on walking and jeep safaris. I suspect the luxury hotel options would make more sense in warmer months.

We had fantastic guides Binod & Tikaram and great porters Sudip, Rajesh & Prakash. They were all really helpful and friendly. They focused us all to work as a team, and they really helped those who were struggling by carrying their day bags and giving them a steadying hand over unstable ground.

HSJ were very responsive to all my emails leading up to the trip. They made it trivial to extend our stay and automatically organised airport transfers even when the airline changed the flight times.

I highly recommend HSJ and the guides and porters we met. If we return for a future trip I'd happily put my faith in HSJ to arrange it and provide another fun adventure.

We adored the trek and touristing we just completed over the last 15 days. The trek was spectacular with great tea houses to eat and sleep. We were overly fond of our guides and porters as were the rest of the group. We would definitely recommend Mingmar and Rum as guides and Rajesh, Besanta, Prabin and Ganesh as porters. They were very friendly and helpful and even showed us their cultural dances on the last night of the trek, making the experience even better.
