We ordered the skip bag and three bags of coal for delivery
Excellent service and the quality is superb ...we are very happy with the purchase
I was worried as I only read all the reviews here after ordering and they are poor
The delivery before the assigned date and driver very helpful

Never order fuel from them. I ordered 200kg firewood with kindling, had to wait 2 weeks to get them and follow up multiple times and never given an actual delivery date until the order arrive one random day. The deliver man left the pallette in front of the driveway completely blocking my car, which was such an inconvenience as I had an appointment i had to get to that time. The items were in such poor condition, bag was ripped and items were soaking. Contacted their customer service right away and was not given any solution and was just told they cant do anything. I do not recommend ordering from them as they will make you wait a long time and when you finally receive the order it arrives in such poor condition. I should have done more research before trusting this company. Will never again deal with them. Worst exeprience and worst customer service. Be warned.

Terrible buying experience with RathWood. It is pitty there is zero star option. I ordered a Christmas tree on Rathwood website on 27th Dec, the order has been confirmed, then I received an email on 28th Dec, told me the item I ordered was out of stock. They gave me 2 options with change the product or refund. I called Rathwood staff to change the item which was in stock and paid the difference. I have also received the message on the customer portal anf whatapp said 'the item left their warehouse and will be delivered shortly. But I received another email on 2nd January, told me the item I changed on 28th Dec was out of stock also. Rathwood is a ridiculous company to deal with. I dont mind the issue happen once but twice I cant accept it. I don't recommend Rathwood to anybody.

First time visit to Rathwood
Santa train experience
We did this as a family of four (2 +4 yo). I was horrified to read all the bad reviews an hour before we left Dublin. BUT. I am so relieved our experience was a good one.
The staff were friendly. My children enjoyed the train rides; the show: very well done and just long enough for smaller kids. After the show, you walk through the nicely lit woods to see baby reindeer (deer calves) then on to see Santa.
Santa was a .. healthy (not fat) Santa, he was very pleasant and jolly enough during a brief meet and greet. The elf wasn't great at getting a family photo though. You will have to take your own photos FYI. We did not see a professional photographer anywhere there.
The train stops off at the Funfair area so the kids might want to go on rides as you do have to pass through it to get to the exit. We paid 7eu for 2 ppl so it is good value I think as it goes around a good bit. It is good for younger children- my 4yo enjoyed the roller coaster, I even saw a baby on it too. There was an elephant (dumbo) type ride- that even my 2yo enjoyed; a cup and saucer ride and a car train type of ride that went around a track. There was also a carnival type game that was run by a very pleasant older gentleman. Easy enough for kids to win on their own. We got 2 of the bigger stuffed toys- 8eu each try.
The cafe/ restaurant/indoor play area I would say was a let down, a bit untidy. As such, we didn't stay for food or for play in the soft play area as we'd worry about how hygienic it was. The menu was a bit limited as well and the cupcakes were out in the open, attracting germs from coughs and such right by the till.
A good experience otherwise. :)

Avoid at all costs!!! Disgraceful company with no respect for their customers. Booked the Santa Train on the 21st August for the 5th December. Allowed my little girl to stay off school telling her we are going to see Santy to receive an email not even 24hours before that our slot was no longer available and we were being moved to a time that did not suit us. My child did not get to see Santa and then when I asked for a refund, only some of the money was refunded and the rest is being held by the company. No email response and no follow up on phone calls. Absolutely disgusting behaviour to do that to children at Christmas. No customer service and no respect for Consumer Law. I have no choice now but to seek legal advice. Please save your money and the stress and go anywhere else!

AVOID RATHWOOD........... Ordered kiln dried oak, but was sent birch instead. After 10 days of waiting in queues on phone, and multiple emails, Rathwood finally offered me 8 euro of a refund. Can you imagine that ! What an insult. Seems like they don't care if they lose me as a customer, which is just about to happen. I see another reviewer has mentioned a company called Wicklow Wood for fuel, so i will give them a go. Doesn't it really make you wonder what is going on in Rathwood ? Anyway, avoid at all costs ! And I see their Santa experience and their Xmas shop is getting poor reviews also.

I was tempted to give this a 1-star review but I think that would probably be a tad too harsh. But I was tempted.
Went here in mid December with our 3 girls (8, 7 & 4) and my nephew (4). Rathwood had come well recommended by a few people and my wife had said that she heard very positive reviews.
We drove down from Louth and everyone was really excited on the days leading up to it. It all started reasonably well. The place seemed busy and had a Christmassy feel to it when we got there. First up was the train through the forest. Just a glorified transport to bring us to the big-top tent elsewhere on the property. There was a nice musical show here then and this was probably the highlight of the day. There were speakers obscuring the screen where we were sitting and these would have obscured the views of many others too. A minor issue only though. Immediately after this we were pushed through to a room where ‘elves’ at kiosks handed out the presents to each of the kids. I thought this to be a very strange thing to be happening and it might as well have been food rations handed out. Very un-Christmas like and nothing magical or special about it at all. Plus, the gifts being handed out were poorly chosen, i.e. our 4-year old got some Spirograph set that was more suited to an older child and our 8-year old got kinetic sand.
The herding continued from here and we then queued to see Santa. Yes, after the gifts were given out. Santa himself was in a very basic room (no grotto I’m afraid) and unfortunately he was lacking in authenticity, to put it politely. Desperately fake beard, local accent and asked the kids names &all that. No official camera or anything set up here. You can take your own photo.
Off back to the train then which drops you right at the fairground attractions. €3.50 per child for every one of those. Hardly much Christmas feel or spirit there. A total & utter money-grab by the organisers. A ‘professional’ photo here on Santa’s sleigh can also be gotten here, for a price of course. There’s a run of the mill play centre place here too that is nor the type of thing we wanted to be coming back into on a day like this. The 32-counties maze can also be accessed here. But at €3.50 a pop (per person) it’s another absolute money grabber of an activity.
We’ve been to Causey Farm and Emerald Park in recent years and they’re both light years ahead of this place. Causey Farm in particular was excellent, a really great Santa experience.
If you want any sort of magical or authentic Christmas experience for your children in the future then please avoid this place at all costs. Overpriced, overhyped, poorly thought out and completely lacking in Christmas spirit. It sucked the Christmas feels out of me & my wife and i felt very disappointed for our elder two girls in particular, who had experienced much better than this in recent years.

I ordered an artificial Christmas Tree online on Tuesday 26th November. I am still waiting and according to the customer portal it will not be delivered until the 16th December. Funny, first thing you see on their website is 'guaranteed same day dispatch' ! The 16th is not even a definite date, its another maybe one. Trying my best to get a refund so we can go buy a tree that we can at least get up before Christmas and guess what, no one answers their phones, you are constantly 3rd in the queue. This is not a big multi conglomerate, its a garden centre and they are so so busy they can't answer the phones. Storm Darragh must have been a godsend for them, because Darragh is getting the blame now for the delays. The tree that was in stock on their website and that would be delivered in 3 to 5 days has been replaced with at tree that was never in stock and will take at this rate of going the bones of a month to arrive ! Just not good enough.

The worst experience ever Santa didn’t even know my kids names and he didn’t know what they wanted for Christmas which I expect will ruin the Christmas magic because Santa knows everything I think we were rushed the elf kept pressing the switch for the next family don’t waste your money

Is the chocolate factory included in the Christmas experience?
Escrita el 16 de diciembre de 2018
I don't think so but there might be the option of including it, if so I didn't see it when I was booking so you might have to book separately
Escrita el 12 de febrero de 2019
Hi, Is it advisable to go in the train when it goes dark or in the day time is good. Thanks
Escrita el 7 de septiembre de 2018
The day time train is for the teddybear picnic, the night time train rides are in December for the Christmas season. Both are lovely and child friendly.
Escrita el 8 de septiembre de 2018
Does the entry fee cover the cost of making a teddy bear or is it extra?
Escrita el 18 de junio de 2018
Hi there unfortunately I did not have any kids so not sure however I would very much believe that the cost of making a bear would be extra

Is it suitable to bring adults with disabilities here
Escrita el 31 de marzo de 2018
I have only been in it once and as far as I remember the shops plus restaurant area are all on the flat. We did go for a walk round outside with the kids but I cant remember if it would be accessible for people with disabilities. Perhaps give them a ring?

Is it suitable to bring adults with disabilities here
Escrita el 31 de marzo de 2018
This amenity is extremely suitable for people with disabilities. The walks are all level and so there would be no difficulty for wheelchairs or people of reduced fitness. Well recommended.

Hi
The teddy bear picnic is definitely for more younger children I have did both. But Jack Frost and the Elves make it much more interesting for the older kids. My son loved Jack Frost and his trick acting. My 10 year still believes and maybe that’s why he likes it.
Hope this helps

Just booked the Santa train for this year 😀 my kids are 8 , 12 and 14 ... didn't want to leave anyone out so we're all going .. but reading some of the reviews maybe I'm better off making other arrangements for the older two ?? Is it really just for very young kids ? Any advise welcome .. also what are the gifts Santa gives to kids like ?
Escrita el 2 de septiembre de 2015
Hi
My kids are 10 and 6 and this is our second year going. My friend goes every year and she had a 16 year who never misses it.
I really found it enjoyable last year the Elves make everyone laugh.
I Hope when my 10 year is 14 he will still want to come.
Hope this helps
