As you head to Little Exuma from George Town, you will pass through the historical settlement of Rolle Town. The significance of Rolle Town in history dates back to the 1800's when Lord John Rolle, a Loyalist and landowner from England, owned thousands of acres throughout Exuma. When the Queen abolished slavery, he deeded all of his land to his slaves who, in turn, took his last name-Rolle. Any Rolle you meet in the states are descendants of those Rolles and the Tombs date back all those years. Read about the slave Pompey who led a rebellion against the overseers to prevent the separation of families and who has a statue in Steventon. Do your homework before yo go so that you can appreciate what you are seeing

we went to the area and stumbled on that place. it looked totally lost and not maintained although it is part of exuma's history.

premetto che io adoro visitare i cimiteri in qualunque posto vada, però il cimitero di rolle town è veramente splendido, ricco di storia e di stili differenti che ti fanno passare un'ora tra le tombe creandoti una storia personale per ogni lapide. Veramente divertenti le tombe di famiglia con i nomi dei futuri "abitanti" e la solo la data di nascita (per fortuna e per ora....)

Stopped to see the tombs on the way back from Tropic of Cancer beach. Turn at the sign for Rolle Town, then take a right at the top of the hill. The path is in between the two blue houses at the top of the hill. We walked down to the tombs. The grass was a little high, so put on bug spray. I'm glad we found the tombs. It was interesting to see a part of the island's history.

We visited this location and it hasn't been mowed in ages. We were attacked by mosquitos so promptly left upon visiting.

We visited the island but there was nothing special about the tombs and off the beaten path. It was OK but would not visit again

well preserved, serene. There is some signage but much better with a guide to explain the historical aspect.

Not a lot to see but I appreciated the guide display explaining its significance. Humbling anytime one visits a cemetery.

A must stop to see some of Exuma's history and beautiful natural landscapes. Rolle Town is a rather sleepy and peaceful village full of friendly neighbors.

Its a small burial ground with very old tombs in the ground. Stickers everywhere but we really liked being able to walk around and see it.
