Staying at Emerald Bay many times, and joining friends at the marina, I've noticed the steady decline of the property over the last few years. Owned by Sandals, it's an embarrassment to the actual resort, with deteriorating infrastructure, signs missing, damaged, or falling apart, lids missing off dock boxes, hook-ups bent or broken. The landscaping is desperately needing trimming, watering, and attending. They want boaters to pick up after their dogs, yet both dog relief stations lack disposal bags and look unattended.

I thought a couple of years might see some improvement but obviously I was wrong. The only bright spot is that all the staff are friendly, engaging, and as helpful as they can be with such limited resources. I guess Sandals has fallen on hard times or they would be keeping up their property.

The Staff is AWESOME ! The facility is a wreck. One of the Buildings was apparently destroyed during storm, not fixed. The owners have apparently not spent a dime on maintenance or repair of the buildings or the docks since they bought it in 2009. Some of the floating docks have the cleats ripped off, waterline rubber torn off, Main piling posts rusted through, hard plastic post wrap is all torn and jagged, landscaping totally neglected, narrow entry with zero markers to guide you in, lots of surge and exposed to all winds, no electric or water in 3/4 of the slips, restrooms and showers very tired, what a waste of what was once a fine marina.

The Marina Emerald Bay was great! Great slips for our boat, great service (especially Ericka!). We also had access to a rental car delivered and picked up for us! AND - you have access to the Grand Isle Resort - a beautiful resort, palapa restaurant, Spa (Latrevia was a great massage Therapist!). Kevin at the beach, Emmerson at the pool, Tyrone at the Restaurant, all great! A great bonfire on Friday nights! Loved it!!

The personal care provided by Ericka Munroe is outstanding. Contact her and she will facilitate the services you require. The services are currently limited by the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. Not all services are available all day everyday. Call ahead by telephone or hail VHY Ch 16/11.

What was once a beautiful and spectacular marina now looks like an afterthought. Formerly a part of the Four Seasons property, it was purchased by the Sandals organization in 2009 as part of the former hotel package. While the new owners invested millions to restore the hotel property and grounds, little if anything was done to improve the marina except for essential maintenance.
It can be difficult to navigate into the safe haven in rough seas as well. It’s narrow entry is lined with jagged rocks that can challenge even seasoned mariners. One boat was actually carried onto the rocks in a huge swell. We came with friends and we’re glad our captain was so skillful.
Only a bit more than half the slips have electrical service and are priced accordingly. The marina office building boasts everything in their website ... almost. The shower rooms need some TLC as some accoutrements were missing, and hadn’t been cleaned. The laundry is free but we found only one machine working. There is no convenience store on site so you either have to order ahead or get a ride to one of the stores, a ten minute ride by car. The first time we were there we had our dog with us and there were 2 “poop stations” with disposal bags and containers. More recently, we noticed the stations had been abandoned with no disposal bags, and only one post had a refuse container. Fortunately when we inquired at the desk, the lady had an “emergency” bag and gave us one. (Remember to take your own bags always!)
The pool is tiny but maintained since Sandals does their diver training there. The pool building however looks like it was battered in the last big storm and no one bothered to fix it. What little landscaping there is seems to be in terrible neglect. Sandals really should send over some of their maintenance crew to spruce up the place. The kids playground is small but looked fine. Day passes are available at Sandals (beautiful facility) for $180 pp per day (yikes!) so if you’re not a big drinker, choose the day pass at Grand Isle Resort next door (same beach) for just $50.
The staff we encountered were very nice and helpful, and the Marina is at the northern end of the island, a gorgeous setting, about a 25 min drive from Georgetown and 15 min from the airport, and a closer boat ride to many attractions (swimming pigs, iguana Island, Staniel Cay). It was OK, but disappointing considering it’s right next to two 5-star resorts.
