1ST...the sign at this address says Foto Art camera and frame shop. If there is a museum in there somewhere, then I have never seen it. They sell cameras and protective cases, tripods etc...did not look around...just got what I needed. I have been here several times before but only to buy and repair my camera, and purchase a water proof case for use while kayaking.
This complaint is in reference to my last visit. I called and inquired about certified solar eclipse viewing glasses. The guy on the phone was pleasant and put some aside for me. When I arrived I was greeted by an older fellow but he knew nothing about my request and called the other guy into the showroom, so obviously he was the same person who was pleasant on the phone because he knew exactly why I was there.
I had a tiny piece of paper in my hand with a few guidelines from NASA about checking for the ISO #, the manufacturer's name and the date, and inspect for pin holes, scratches and wrinkles in the lenses.
He became irate when I said I wanted to do this. There was no date on these glasses and NASA states they are only safe to use for 3 years. For such particular guidelines about scratches etc, these glasses were not inside any protective wrappers. The older fellow made a comment about being so fussy about a $2 item and I said it's nothing to do with the cost, it's all to do with not going blind for the rest of my life.
Irate guy then resorted to name dropping, names of people from my town in an Astrological group and said he bought these glasses off of them...he looked surprised when I said I actually did know one of those people and from that point on he did not look me in the eye! He took my cash and walked away so I had to ask the older fellow to put them into a plastic bag for protection and then he walked away...the worst costumer service I have encountered in years.
I walked in with my smile and out with my smile and my 2 solar glasses. Displaced anger is their personal problem and I did not let it affect me or the rest of my great day.
Funny how a few years ago when I bought my expensive Canon camera worth +/- $500 they all treated me just fine! That experience is the only reason I give this store a 2. If I based it only on this last experience, they would get a zero.

Foto Art in Owen Sound is the best place to shop for your camera needs.
The staff there really care about customer service and the art of photography.
They match any price for camera equipment.
The camera museum is a welcome section of the store. The history of photography is
captured by a large selection of heritage cameras.
Enjoy your visit!
