We wanted something to do and happened upon this place. A short stroll around some trees sounded relaxing, but what awaited us blew our minds. We paid less than a tenner to get in. Parked easily and went to the visitor centre. We were told a guided trip was leaving at 3 pm, and it was in a golf buggy.
My mobility is bad, so I thought, let's join this, and am I very glad we did.
The lovely and attractive Bernie was our guide for the next 60 minutes that lasted about 100. She was extremely knowledgeable, and we had a fantastic experience laughing and learning. She made a good trip totally outstanding. She does walking talks, too.
If you go, take the free guided trip as Bernie delivers an outstanding presentation. She knows what everything is, when it was planted and a lot of it by whom. There are many rare species as well as common ones and quite a few we had never seen before. We loved the experience.

I visited the Arboretum during the John F Kennedy Summer School and was hugely impressed with the number of interesting experiences it has to offer. The welcome from Leonie at the Reception stop on the way in was fabulous - she gave me a map of what was ahead and great suggestions as to the main points of interest, etc.
I had a lovely warm welcome from Jerry at the Arboretum, who is a font of knowledge and wisdom. He couldn't have been more helpful, and he went out of his way to ensure I got the most from my visit. The Café on site is bright and cheery with great food and amazing staff. The Arboretum and grounds are outstanding, with many fabulous walks and areas to take time out to relax.

Today I had the joy of doing the guided tour of the JFK Arboretum. I think as a child I visted with my parents but that's been 40+ years. Jerry gave me a terrific tour. We had great chats about the origins of the park and as we strolled through, he told me about the various groups of trees. I learned about all the conservation work being done and the parks participation in these projects. That trees / plants were still coming from all over the world to be preserved, that the Kennedy's had only planted a tree there last week.
Sure I could have walk solo without the benefit of his knowledge but I wouldn't really have enjoyed it half so much. There was plenty of parking and the toilet facilites were up to standard. I was in Wexford during the bank holiday weekend and this was part of the Garden Trail. I had been to Tintern Abbey (and its Colclough walled gardens earlier)
Its a beautiful location and clearly not being enjoyed by many as it was generally locals we encountered. I might come back in the Autumn ...

Marvelous park. Wonderfully maintained and impossible to fault. Barry the guide is second to none in manners and knowledge about the parks origin and fauna and many other topics. I may highlight here that playing football near the pond should be a no,no, as ducks heron's and other waterbirds are stressed, especially doing breeding times. A few more bins maybe necessary as I saw some plastic thrown carelessly in this wonderful settings . Staff I met in the Kennedy Park are intelligent people , aware of the importance of tourism for Ireland and its presentation of the park to foreign tourists, bringing home with them an overall impression of Ireland , including the sparkling jewell of the Kennedy Park , hard to match anywhere in the world. Here I like to thank management and staff for their hard work for a beautiful well maintained park .

Well worth a visit. You can get lost here for hours and have pleasant refreshment in the cafe. Well tended with many interesting trees and flowers. A crock of gold in County Wexford.

This is a beautiful arboretum with much to see. The cafe had just reopened, so we enjoyed a teas and cakes before exploring. Stunning and peaceful lake, a lot of walkign involved so do wear sensible shoes or boots armed with a stout stick or arm if necessary. There is an exhibition of how it was built and JFK himself plus tree information. Do not miss the Viewpoint, very windy road up but dramatic views over the surrounding countryside. Reasonable charge to visit. There may be at least one or more school groups visiting but plenty of space to avoid them!

Beautiful gardens so well cared for and manicured. Such a variety of trees, really lovely. Very reasonably priced. Great play area for children beside the coffee shop. We'll worth a visit.

We went to the park yesterday with a wheelchair user the staff was so friendly and helpful. We got a car pass for the grounds and the wheelchair user and all other parties enjoyed the trip. We would highly recommend it is well worth a visit.

It's many years, maybe 40, since we last visited so obviously the trees have grown a lot! We enjoyed our walk around the parkland and by the lake but the map on the leaflet wasn't easy to follow. As keen gardeners ourselves we were disappointed to see some of the smaller plants needing care e.g. escollania choked with brambles. And I've lots of photos of plants to identify! We hadn't brought a picnic and were disappointed that the café wasn't open on the Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend. The drive up to the Sliabh Coillte viewing point was well worth it for the views on a breezy but lovely sunny afternoon.
