Very poor service in the cafe. One toasted teacake ordered which didn't arrive with the other food that had been ordered. I had to go back into the cafe twice to check on it's progress!! Eventually gave up and asked for my money back as all my other friends had finished their lunch!! So, I had to miss lunch that day!! Very poor and rude service from one member of staff. Someone needs to be IN CHARGE and get it organised.

This is a great place to enjoy the gorgeous Westward Ho! beach with the safety of Lifeguards too (very important here)!

No problems with the daily £5 charge but like other reviewers we do expect a toilet for that, particularly if you are planning to spend all day there.

Staying in appledoor for a few days and Visited here for a afternoon on 19th & 20th September to have a paddle , blow the cobwebs away and let our 2 dogs have a run , lovely clean beach goes for miles, great to watch all the kite surfing 🏄‍♀️ and chat to other doggy owners , very lovely

Paid £5 to park both days our only quibble was not enough dog poo bins and most of all not a public toilet in sight !!!!…. Very surprised with northern town council ,not even a Porter loo !!!!!……
We did ask at the pay point when we left and was told to drive into town use the public toilets there ,further payment for a car park
So will not visit here again when next in Bideford 😡

I have seen this park so many times from MS Oldenburg as she sails too and from Lundy on the distant horizon but didn't have the chance to walk here and see it properly until last autumn. It really is a gorgeous walk - all the way through the dunes to Appledore, with so much to see - the ponies, the beaches, the grasses and the old dilapidated boat propped up on the bank. With the wind in your hair, and the salt om your lips this is a great place to find some alone time, to walk the dog (if you have one) and just to see the amazing views. The £5 charge for parking might seem a bit steep to some, but it goes to pay for the park and its upkeep so is money in my opinion well spent. If you don't want to pay that then don't come here - simple, or use one of the council car parks instead, of which there are several at the Westward Ho! end.

Two of us from London visited a friend in Appledore.
One of the days out was to be at a walk at Northam Burrows with lunch at the newly opened and much heralded Visitors Centre, run by The Royal George Hotel.
What a disappointment! It is up a newly paved track and looks good - there was a board offering sandwiches, baps, coffees and cakes. We perused the menu and went to the counter, where we were asked, “Have you made up your mind?” I started to order when the young girl interrupted, “NO FOOD! We haven’t got a chef for three days!”
Why, I wondered, did she let us look at the menu? Why wasn’t the menu erased from the board? Why wasn’t there a sign at the entrance? Do you really need a CHEF to make egg or cheese and tomato sandwiches?
Sasha and Garth will have to do much better than this!!

Excited to visit what was described as: “A Country Park”.

The £5 admission seemed a bit steep, but then it is a country park, right??

But in fact, it’s a car park, not “A Country Park”.

Effectively, just a road going through a golf course (Which of course you’re not allowed to walk on), going to a car park - and there isn’t a view of the sea from anywhere on the road, or from any of the car park areas, due to the high banks of stones and rocks.

Stop pretending it’s something it’s not!!
It’s an over priced car park, NOT a country park!!

The guy that took our money said to keep hold of the ticket, in case we went out and wanted to come back in again.
Come back in again?? After driving along the road and finding just a car park, we left, all within 30-minutes - with absolutely no intention of ever returning!!

Lovely beach for family and dogs so much room for everyone clear water and very clean beach surf is good too word of warning the pebble ridge is a bit tricky to get over could do with a few walk ways so difficult for people not steady on their feet also quite a way for toilet facilities

A great beach with loads of parking very near to the beach.
Parking is only £5 for the day. The man on the gate was very helpful and gave us directions and a map. I don't know his name but it was around 3 p.m. Weds 18th August at Pimpley Gate so many thanks to him.
We wanted a large area for flying kites and this was perfect. Highly recommended.

You could walk for miles here and never get bored! The area stretches from westward ho to the seaside town of Appledore! It has lots of sheep and horses roaming around so it's best to keep dogs on the lead until you reach the beach!

It was really clean here and parking was £5 for the day which was good value!

Feel the full force of those Atlantic breezes with a walk around the beach and dunes, great for blowing away the cobwebs!
