Incredible tile work!
dic. de 2019
Beautiful mosque with some of the most beautiful tile work I've seen. Take the time to walk around and take in all the nooks and crannies -- some of the most beautiful tile work is in little alcoves.

Blue Shah Jahan
oct. de 2018 • Familia
Shah Jahan loved red and white in the monuments he build, for example Taj Mahal in white and Red fort of Agra in Red stones, however this mosque was build after his central asian visits the architecture with its huge court yard is more Central Asian and Persian, use of blue tiles is considered to be the most elaborate display of tile work
The Mosque was a gift to the people of Thatta by Shah Jahan when he was hiding from his father Jahangir, interestingly he was third mughal to come this far, Emperor Humayun when defeated by Sher Shah Suri was here for a short time and off coarse Emperor Akbar was born in Umerkot neat Thatta

Souvenir d'Isfahan.

A most beautiful Mosque with limited access
mar. de 2018 • Solitario
Thatta is a busy city where there had been some unrest of late and the police had ordered the mosque to be open only at prayer time. I walked through the garden up to the entrance. The exterior tiles and brickworks were amazing and in fairly good shape. How I wished I had a peak inside. Shah Jahan Masjid had been on my priority list, but a visit was not to be. Maybe another time...

Very beautiful mosque. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to enter the mosque as it opens at 12:30 but we did see the outside of the mosque.
