I've waited a while to write this review, but I think it needs to be written. 10 people five fishing days each and one fish caught. That's one fish for 50 fishing days.
I blame part of this on the booking agency that put us down there in late May, the first day the gods told us that the fish had left and leave around May 1st.
I was lucky to fish with one of the better Brothers for a few days and had a couple shots but not many. The guys with us could fish.
The food was decent and the hospitality was good. But on the last day I got stuck with one of the worst guys I've ever had in my life. I asked him if we could please stop somewhere where we could catch some fish. Not necessarily flats fish but at least a tug after being there for 6 days. He forgot because he drank three or four beers during our tour. He never poled as his pole was broken and duct taped together and basically had us blind caster tarpon on the bank all day. Are you kidding me? I'm there to catch permit on a flat.
I hate to write such a bad review but it has burned in my throat for a while and I needed to vent.
The owner and the brothers are wonderful host but don't trust the booking agency when they say that fishing is great. Belize is very far south and the flats warm up by. I recommend you go during May or April.
Some of the guys I was with can afford to go back but this was a once-a-lifetime trip for me and it was a once in a lifetime bad memory. I have fished many of the lodges in the Bahamas and if I could catch at least one bonefish on this trip I would be happy. Sorry to be negative but one fish with 50 angler days is pitiful.

Absolutely amazing! Booked a fishing trip with this company through Norwegian cruise lines and had the most amazing time! Capt John and the “Fish Doctor” were so helpful and informative. Everyone on the trip caught multiple fish and it was a day to remember. The equipment was all in great condition and was well kept. Would highly recommend as it was one of the best excursions I have ever taken!!!!

We love staying at this tiny island. It was so peaceful. The family that own the island are wonderful.
Home cooked food is delicious and we loved snorkeling along the reef. We did an amazing snorkel trip to an old steam wreck which was simply magic.
Just off the beach we saw rays, starfish lots of fish and a nurse shark!

Brandon and Tyler came to our rescue when we booked our fishing excursion last minute and they brought out a boat just for our family and gave us the greatest trip! They were so friendly and knowledgeable and added lots of fun and energy so we weren't even phased by the overcast misty weather. Would recommend them to anyone. You better Belize it! Thanks again for one of our greatest memories of our entire cruise vacation!

Garbutt's is probably best known for fly fisherman who want to catch the big 3 - bonefish, permit and tarpon. All I want out of them is a day on the water, and maybe catch a few fish, And they do not disappoint. It's a family run business with Mr Dennis in charge and Skully, Ray and George serving as guides. Who will put you on the fish. I've been out with them 4 or 5 times now and always tied into something. Skully put me on to a tarpon and I've never smiled more. Prices seem to vary but $600Belize will get a boat, fishing gear, lunch and a driver/guide. Worth every penny in my book,

We didn't sleep at this lodge. We just took a day trip with them.
Our boat captain "snake" was awesome and we had a great trip to Snake Cayes for snorkeling. Bring Bug Spray!!! We got eaten alive by tiny sand flies on one of the islands and had to retreat back into the boat. Parts of the ride can get pretty bumpy depending on weather, so be prepared.
We stopped at 2 different snorkel spots. The first was nice with some reefs and small fish and some different and beautiful jellyfish. The second spot was amazing - we saw beautiful Eagles rays swimming around us, and a huge barracuda. We had lunch on another island after, and enjoyed the boat ride back.

We shot down here on an unexpected visit. We were in Placencia when I read Punta Gorda was the permit Capitol of the world. We jumped on a plane and went out for a day of fly fishing with guide Scully, from Garbutt’s Fishing Lodge. Best fly fishing guides in Punta Gorda! Family owned and operated, these guys grew up here, and know this water like the back of their hand. We had tough weather, but we had an awesome day learning what Punta Gorda permit fishing has to offer. Can’t wait to schedule a week here!

Was touring and visiting friends in PG but always wanted to do a day fishing trip. Say no more, David Garbutt's Fishing lodge setme up. My guide was Alex Leonardo who not only took me to spots catching Snook (most Delicious), Kingfish, Barracuda, and Pilot fish. Alex even gave me personalize pointers making me a better flycaster!

All of the members of the Garbutt family are wonderful hosts. Their kindness and friendliness make one feel like part of the family when spending time with them.
I took a trip out to Lime Caye, the idyllic island paradise located owned by the Garbutt's. Crystal clear blue waters surround the small island, which is located in the Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve near some of the area's best snorkel sites. We saw lots of beautiful coral reefs, reef fish, nurse sharks, rays and a ship wreck.
The food cooked by Mrs. Garbutt on Lime Caye is fresh and delicious! We ate barracuda that we caught that day as well as other favorite Creole recipes.
If you are looking for a fun and relaxing place to visit off the coast of Belize- Lime Caye is the spot!

My brother and I and our spouses are interested in a dive vacation at your island resort on Sapodilla Cayes. My brother and I are divers; our wives are not. We'd probably like a 5 day/4 night pkg (Monday-Friday) with a couple of dives a day at least. Could you let me know what you have available in late January 2018?
Thanks,
Steve
