My family has taken surfing lessons with Edgar now for 5yrs running. Edgar is great at teaching safety in the water, situational awareness and of course surfing. This trip Edgar worked with my 12yr old and his 13yr old cousin. Edgar was on time and prepared for each lesson. Over the years we have come to consider Edgar a family friend. We always recommend Edgar’s surfing instruction to everyone we know who visits Tamarindo. Edgar is also good at booking in advance which we recommend too since he only takes a limited number of clients on any given day. 🏄🏽♀️

This is my second time taking lessons from Edgar, and he is awesome. Patient, knowledgeable, excellent at assessing what you need to correct, and also instilling good habits and safe surfing, to protect yourself and others. And makes you feel comfortable, encouragement when needed, little playful ribbing on a not so great ride. My friend is with me, first time on a board. Edgar had him up on first wave, did the same for me last year. A little success early makes the wipeouts much less discouraging. Thank you again Edgar, Pura Vida.

I can’t say enough good things about Edgar. First of all, he is an excellent teacher. He’s a very effective communicator who knows not only how to explain and demonstrate the most important elements but he picks up on what each person needs and meets them where they are. Secondly, Edgar is an inspiring coach. He helps first timers feel relaxed and confident and he gets more experienced surfers get to the next level. And lastly, Edgar is also an experienced trainer and athlete so he can assess your physical abilities to better support your learning process. We all had a blast and learned a ton with Edgar. Highly recommend.

This lesson was amazing. Definitely one of the best parts of my trip. I am from California and have always wanted to surf. Edgar was able to teach me everything I needed to know and was super kind. I was able to stand up and ride waves like a boss. Definitely recommend and would do it many times again.

Edgar is an amazing teacher. He had me standing and surfing on the first lesson! He was very safe and had a clear and easily understood teaching method. I will be back and will bring the whole family next time!

Edgar was my surf coach for a number of days this past week, and altough conditions weren´t optimal we were able to achieve significant progress. The improvements that I was able to attain were far greater than what I initially anticipated. Edgar was able to identify the areas where I need to evolve and gave me the ´tools´ to get rid of multiple bad habits that are setting my surfing back. Edgar is extremely technical yet knows how to keep you motivated and relax. I also hired him to drive me to Ventanas Beach and back to Tamarindo and the sunset there was simply amazing, one of the highlights of my trip; many thanks for that too Edgar. I already miss the peptalks and warm up routines at the beach, see you soon!

My Grandmother and I were recently at Tamarindo Beach to celebrate my 25th birthday. Prior that I had not surf in more than 10 years, hence Grandma treated me with multiple surf lessons with Edgar which was an absolute blast and ended up being the highlight of our trip. The mind set he helped me to achieve was beyond optimal and the success of the learning/improving process was rather remarkable. Although it wasn´t planned that way he ended up being our driver from and to Liberia airport which we truly enjoyed and appreciate. Many thanks Edgar for such irrepleaceable memories. Can´t wait to see you and train with you again soon!

Much appreciation to Edgar for helping me to improve my surfing notably while keeping me safe and comfortable in the water. Having him fully locked in throughout the entire lesson made me feel safe and able to thrive surfing-wise. His technical approach of surfing is unparallel. Transportation was reliable, punctual and our dialogues were both hilarious and intellectual. I do highly recomend him to any one who wants to either learn and improve their surfing skills, and/or if transportation is needed. Looking forward to see you soon and again many thanks Edgar!

I just came back from Costa Rica and can not says thanks enough to Edgar for such quality time in water and land. From helping me to run errands to the amazing experience of perfecting my surfing skills with such an articulate and knowledgeable instructor. Also having him pick me up and dropping me off at the airport was a plus, very convenient. I am already planning my next trip to Tamarindo Beach with Edgar to continue my surfing improvement process. I definitely recommend Edgar for a fulfilling surfing experience. Hands down 5 stars.

Hi Edgar, I have read so many good reviews about you so I am planning to go solo there in October. I live in Cayman Islands where waves are not big on a regular basis (except when the storms hit) ;) I am wondering how are the waves over there in mid October. I also looking to improve my skills which I believe you can help with. How is your availability about that time? Do you recommend any particular Hostel/Hotel. Finally, is a decent night life over there? (just to pack few books if there is none) :)
