Fuhgeddaboudit Sportfishing/Quepos Fishing, Marina Pez Vela, Quepos
This is a charter service. They do not own the boats, so you do not know for certain until the day before which boat, captain and mate you are getting. The captain spoke good English, the mate spoke only Spanish.
We had to learn about inshore fishing, and the need to wait/count for 5 to 7 seconds after you get a strike before you start reeling. This fishing is done with a spinning rod.
That said, the captain fished two areas some distance apart, to give us a good opportunity to catch fish. In the second area, two of us had a rooster fish on at the same time. As we got the fish closer to the boat, one of the lines was cut to give us a better chance of landing one. The rooster fish is known to give a good fight. After 25-30 minutes, the prize was landing a 45-50 pound rooster fish. Not good for eating, we took pictures and the fish was put back.
The total cost of the charter for the three of us was $500 for a half day: 7am to noon. The boat was 28’ long with twin diesels and a full cabin. It was presented as a free upgrade when the 27’ Idra was not available at the last minute.

We fished on the Fandango, out of Quepos, Costa Rica and had the most fabulous experience. Our Captain was Jose' and the mate was Grehvan, the boat was owned by a man named Rob. All were wonderful to work with. We caught 17 Sail Fish and 1 Wahoo. The food and drinks provided on the trip were excellent!
Thank you, Rob, Jose' and Grehvan for a wonderful day on the water.
We would recommend this fishing charter 100%.

We fished with Capt. Jesus and his team for Spring Break. They are awesome! They provided great hospitality that included serving us snacks and a warm lunch. Fishing was great as well. There were 7 of us in our party that included children (ages 5, 7 and 14). They had a blast. We caught 4 sailfish that day. (My husband and friend fished 2 additional days and caught 12 sailfish in those two days). Our excitement included my sailfish jumping in the boat! I would definitely recommend Capt Jesus and Quepos Fishing Charters!
