The best part of our holiday to Devon. The autumnal colours were astonishing. Every part of the garden was pure magic, utterly enchanting, totally absorbing. As keen gardeners we felt a wonderful sense of being as one with these gardens. They really will take your breath away. We rounded our day off with a cream tea which was outstanding. We would like to thank all those on duty who helped make this a very special occasion, especially for my partner's 93rd birthday! Do come and lose yourselves in overwhelming beauty, well worth it

What an amazingly beautiful garden! We visited on a hot day, but the garden has plenty of areas with shade, and has the most seating we've ever come across, so was a real pleasure to sit under the trees and stay cool. The walled garden is a real WOW, with beautiful planting and buildings. A haven for artists and photographers.
My score is not 'excellent' because there was an artisan fair in the house, which we walked around (always love an artisan fair 😍), but was way too hot to stay in there for too long. Felt sorry for the stall holders. Unfortunately, because of this, the cafe was only providing a minimum menu, which could be eaten in the garden. Maybe, in future, these fairs could be held in a marquee?

Fantastic gardens here .most areas are accessible. And well signed. There is a disabled car park .also you can drive you car down to the bottom if you collecting a disabled person .they give you a discount for disabled and carer .the cafe has improved now they got better catering team .they can do foods for all dietary requirements ie.vegan.dairy free and gluten free. Plenty of seating all around the gardens so you can take your time and rest

We wanted somewhere reasonably close to Tavistock, to take our mother/mother-in-law to have a wonder around a garden. Unfortunately she has to use a walker, so researched for such online. The Garden House turned out to have decent reviews on accessibility. So off we went and got there about 11ish.
We are RHS and NT members, so why on earth we went to the garden house, we simply don’t know!
It is not our intention to give out a bad review, because we normally don’t, but this garden really does have accessibility issues. We were given a map and were told that all the footpaths marked with a continuous line would be suitable for people with a walker. Not the case, our parent struggled all the way round (only when we said that she couldn’t get to the toilet on uneven ground where we told that there’s on in the cafe) Coupled with this, we found the whole garden unexciting and apart from the walled garden at the bottom, we felt completely short changed, the admission price in our opinion is far too high. So after just 1 hour we left

If you love gardens, gardening and things that grow, you must visit. There may be some months that it looks lacklustre, but it was stunning in July! Huge borders packed with amazing plants and a riot of colour. Beautiful trees and shrubs. The azalea were over, but I suspect this garden is a never-ending firework display. Visit nearby Wildwood if it's open. You will not be disappointed.

A “must visit” in West Devon, the Garden House is a stunning garden, cafe and small shop. It is full of interest and thoughtfully planted. There are also hidden gems along the way like the Wisteria bridge, a fallen tree trunk carved in the shape of a dragon, a stunning walled garden, a stone dovecote, bucolic view towards the church, and old stone circle like a mini Stonehenge. Beautiful coffee, tea and cake overlooking the garden is a real treat. How such a well kept and unique 10 acres can be achieved with such a small team is hard to understand. No National Trust budget here, and yet it is stunning. Well worth the entrance fee.

Probably the best garden I've ever been to - and I've been to a lot. I especially loved the vast numbers of mature acers and dogwoods, a fantastic mature multistem ornamental birch, and so much more. Lots of small sinuous paths opening up superb views. The sandwiches, pasty, tea, cakes were good and generous too, and the staff were delightful.

Beautiful garden! Also nice to visit with children. It's not too big, you can get through it in an hour. There is another cafe, be sure to eat here after the walk. You can also go here as a vegetarian.

We have recently moved to Devon so I decided to visit this very local attraction.
The gardens are small and it takes little time to explore however they are very well looked after and there are lots of seating areas to sit and view.
My review is excellent for two reasons; the member of staff greeting visitors was friendly, knowledgable and provided such a high level of customer service. The second is the CafeTea Room - spacious, quality cakes and again excellent customer service.
I was sufficiently impressed that I bought a 12 month membership as it will be interesting to see the gardens change with the seasons.
