This is one of my favorite places anywhere. Windswept grass, sea, animals. Today I saw a coyote, a marten, elk, red hawks, turkey vultures... amazing views, ocean sound. The Tomales trailhead leads to a 9.5m hike to the tip of the peninsula.

We decided to go kayaking here because it was a little closer than Monterey. Based on the information in the park’s website, I thought it would be a good alternative. We got there around 2:30, so the water was pretty choppy. Also, there wasn’t much to see. We launched our kayaks at Miller Boat Launch in Marshall. It wasn’t busy, so we were able to get in and out with ease. You’d definitely need to wear a wetsuit because the water was cold! We were going to paddle across the channel to a beach, but we decided to turn back halfway across because the water was too choppy. It was a great decision because my kegs were freezing about less than an hour on the water! It took 2 hours to get there. It wasn’t worth the drive!

While returning from drake's beach some lovely evening sunset views were had such a beautiful area that reminds one very much of the original Inverness. So many wonderful different breeds of cows the ranches have here and so wonderful to see at sunset. Beautiful area.

Pt Reyes is one of our favorite places to hike. We have been going there for 40 years, but had never explored Tomales Bay State Park. We went on a the Johnstone/Jepson loop trail and then out and back on the Indian Beach Nature Trail. The trails are well maintained and you see Tomales Bay as well hike under some beautiful trees. It was quiet and scenic during our hike. We parked at Heart's Desire beach and saw kayakers on the bay. We were there on a Tuesday, so the parking was easy and we did not see many people on the trails. We also saw some people playing in the water at the beach

This is a beautiful park for walking or kayaking or just sitting and enjoying with great beaches on the sleepy side of Tomales Bay.

Great nature trail about indigenous people also at this very attractive beach. The nature trail leads to another beach even quieter. Pictures of quieter Indian Beach.

Lovely area for kayaking and paddle boarding. Kids can paddle about and many dogs playing in the water. Kayak rentals nearby but no restaurants or markets at the beach area. Bring your own food from market in Inverness Park or Point Reyes station.

We went to Tomales Bay State Park. This is a scenic park with nice water views I enjoyed watching deer and birds. Other fun thigs to do in this area are kayaking and going to oyster farms.

Lovely place to swim along the buoys, you can get in a decent long swim. It can be windy and cool, especially as the day advances. You can change modestly near the rocks, people do. I got bumped twice by a leopard shark, however. There's a toilet, too. There are 2 beaches, joined by a short trail.

Fantastic experience kayaking on a moonless night to check out the spectacular bioluminescence that abounds in Tomales Bay. We lucked out with a fog-free night, and once the wind died down we spent three hours kayaking on warm, calm water that was like glass - the stars were reflected on the surface of the water, and the bioluminescence was breathtaking! Will definitely do this again. Lots of parking (paid), very few food options (restaurant at the launch was completely booked, so bring food or be prepared to drive north or south down the coast to equally sparse options - grocery stores close at 4 pm on the weekends). We went south and found a restaurant open, which was very good but it was the only one remotely close. Portable toilets at the launch. I'd love to go back for camping.

Is the bioluminescence visible year around? In particular during the next week?
Thanks!!!
