One of the best community recreation centers I’ve seen anywhere. Well laid out facility with space for many guests. Lap pool has very wide lanes which very easily two or more swimmers . Recreation pool also very large space enough for children, as well as adults to do their thing. Nice size indoor track upstairs. Lots of workout equipment in different types of spaces. Very friendly and helpful staff. We rented towels as well as locks for lockers. A real bargain for a very reasonable entry fee. Nice to be able to keep up our workouts, even though on vacation

Everytime we are anywhere near Durango the grandkids clamor to go here. It's a lot of fun. I'm an old granny and I enjoy the hot tub and whirlpool river, I don't know what you really call it. I encouraged my granddaughter to do the rock climbing, but all she wanted was the slide, high dive, and pool. There's lots to do there, I saw air hockey and foosball. You really could spend all day here. The price is awesome. I wish every city had a rec center like Durangos.

All for $5/kid, $6.50/adult, you get:
--30 ft. climbing wall (call for hours) with three routes, two of which were self-belayed (climbing shoes & harnesses free)
--huge indoor pool area:
--lap pool with medium and high dives
--kid's play pool with little slides/features for toddlers
--three-story, LONG slide - our 9-12 yr. olds did this dozens of times
--lazy river with whirlpool (no tubes) - I've never seen this before - pretty fun!
--aquajogging lane with pool weights
--hot tub
--outdoor splash park
--racquetball courts & equipment
--weight room
Heavily chlorinated, so shower and have lotion on hand for afterwards.

We visit Durango about every two years and always make sure to visit the Rec Center! Our 3 kids ages 9, 7, and 5 absolutely love this place! This is probably the least expensive activity we did while on vacation and was one of our kid's most favorite places. For under $30, our family had hours of access to swimming, the rock climbing wall, and the fitness area; and not to mention a locker and towels (for rent). This aquatic center is 10X better than the indoor pool in our small town. It features a waterslide, lazy river, high dive, and play area for toddler-aged kids. This place is definitely a win for us! Pack some sandwiches and eat lunch at the park next door, and then back to go back swimming :)

Great pools and water park-like amenities!! The price is unbeatable!! The staff at the front counter was super helpful and nice!!! This stop could easily be made more than once on a trip to Durango!!!

The owners of the Fireside Cabins in Pagosa Springs told us to stop by while in Durango and so we did. Not expecting the size of the facility, It has a lot of things to do but the kids were in AWWW with the indoor slide and diving boards. WE had to go back the next day before we heading north on Ouray. The place is worth it for the kiddos.

There may be better, but I have not seen one. The pools are great....babes in the short pool, tots and toddlers a few feet farther away. The other kids, young and old, can swim, splash, and play in the deeper sections, on the slides, in the vortex pool, the lap pool, the diving pool, then relax in the hot tub. Great dressing areas, climbing wall, meeting rooms. Workout equipment is up to date& plentiful. A variety of classes from yoga to pilates. Get there early and claim a bicycle for a spin class, though. You're in the mountain bike capital of the U.S.A & home to the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, so there are lots of people training during inclement weather.
Friendly staff. Indoor walking/running track overlooks basketball and (now) pickle ball courts below.

The Hampton Inn didn’t have an exercise room and that turned out to be a good thing as they gave me a free pass to the Durango Community Rex Center. This place has everything. Cardio, weights, aerobics, a running track, wall climbing, a lap pool, kiddie pool and more. The staff was real nice.

Great 1 entrance fee gets you into the pool gymn track classes!
All kinds of machines to work out on... inside track... ball court in hymn pool has a lap pool vortex pool exercise pool all for families ... slide at pool great entertainment for kids... hot tub too

Yes, the Recreation Center does accept Silver Sneakers. If you are just a day guest the staff will sign you in. If you are staying for an extended time, they will get you a recreation center membership pass. Thanks,

So sorry for the delay, still figuring this out! Yes the facility is open to the public and adults are $6.00 and youth are $4.50. That includes all areas of the facility including the climbing wall and swimming pool as well as the fitness area, gymnasium and racquetball. Make sure to check out the schedule for certain areas such as the climbing wall so you come at a time it is open. Thank you and please let me know if you have any other questions.
