The resort is reporting over 100% of normal snow fall yet 1/3 of the trails are not yet open. A 5 inch snowfall means the upper lifts (12-15) won't open until after 11:30 - creating crowded conditions on the rest of the mountain and quickly chewed up powder on the sections that are open. Lifts are constantly being closed for maintenance during the day - again creating unsafe and crowded conditions on the sections of the mountain that are accessible. Food on the mountain is 1970's quality at best. This could be a wonderful resort - but after 22 years of little or no investment in maintenance or operations (lift 7 is the oldest double in the state; lift 10 is the oldest quad) the experience is that of a third tier resort.

Telluride has the absolutely BEST AMBASSADOR with Lisa Morgan who is director of groups and wholesale. We are bringing a group of 44 to enjoy the mountain in February. NO TRAVEL AGENT is better than how Lisa has thoroughly introduced the mountain and its attributes. She has made my job so easy! If you are bringing a group, contact LISA MORGAN! From both ski and non-ski activities (like treasure hunts, snowmobiling, art activities) restaurant options for large groups, and even follows up with us as she learns of new programs coming. No detail is left out. LISA MORGAN!!!

You really need to study the trail map to figure out where to go and then you will still get lost. What they really need is a gondola that takes people up to the peak and then you could ski the ridges. Skiing is either VERY extreme or blue cats…no real challenges for intermediate skiers, and hardly anything for beginners. On mountain eating is VERY limited or VERY expensive and has an hour wait on a Monday with no crowds. It is best to visit the Village Market and buy groceries to eat in every night. The restaurant scene on the resort side of the mountain is VERY limited and VERY expensive. Telluride town has more choices but you need to take the free gondola.

We had a good time even if this ski resort is made for more experienced people. My son did fine here. Where we are from those greens are more like blues though. I’ve never heard of a double green. The mountains were beautiful and when you are riding up the lifts you feel like they are about to drop you off at a black diamond. The people were really nice and the equipment we rented from Telluride Sports was amazing. They do not have an actual lodge and you do not rent from an actual resort per se - you rent from just local shops around the mountain and your lodge is just various restaurants around the ski area. If you are new or a blue - try out the green runs first before exploring. If you are there for New Years go to the Mountain Village - it was so confusing and no one would give a straight answer on where to see these fireworks or the torch light parade/ just go to mt village to view it all and leave before it ends or you’ll be standing in line the whole night at the Gondola. I would return to this ski resort and I do highly recommend it. I am actually missing it right now. It was an amazing experience.

Oh guys, I just got back from Telluride and it was incredible! It's simply magical there in autumn!
First, let's talk about the cable car. Yes, it was absolutely free! I sat in it and thought, "Wow, I'm so lucky that I don't have to pay for this nice ride!" But, of course, it later turned out that this was just a pleasant beginning, and then the expenses began. Yes, expensive expenses!
And what beauties there were! The autumn colors of the mountains were simply impressive. All I did was photograph every turn, every tree. My phone was full of nature photos and my wallet was full of emptiness. Well, beauty requires sacrifice, doesn't it?
And, of course, freshness! The air was so clean and fresh that I felt like every cell of my body was coming to life. I just breathed it in deeply and enjoyed the moment.
Overall, Telluride in its fall guise is a place where you can enjoy the beauty and fresh air, but also be prepared to spend a pretty penny. But, my friends, we know that beauty requires sacrifice! So if you're willing to fork out the cash for magical moments, Telluride will welcome you... and your wallet!

After reading a myriad of North America resort articles, I decided to fly out here on my own during some down time at work. My experience was an overall "meh."
Skiing Experience
The Bad
The intermediate blue runs felt pretty short. The only way to get them to feel longer was to link runs from different lifts (ex: take Lift 14 to See Forever, ski down Woozley Way to Stormin Normin, then to Ophir Loop), but that meant you couldn't repeat the same lap without going up multiple lift across the mountain.
The Good
There were a moderate amount of single black runs that provided a fun challenge. Revelation Bowl had the best snow while I was there and I liked that there was a whole area for only blacks on Lift 9. There were very little lines anywhere except for Lift 4 at Mountain Village.
The OK
I did a vast majority of the intermediate to black runs within two days, which just saved the third day to do the fun ones or any ancillary not already completed. There were a moderate amount of repeats. You probably shouldn't consider this place unless you like advanced/difficult terrain. The other trails aren't interesting.
Mountain & Dining:
The Bad
I was shocked how expensive the food was ($34 for a ramen bowl, $25 for a burger) and the resort didn't seem to honor the epic pass discounts like at other resorts. With that being said, it was also the best food at any resort I have been to by a huge margin. I was disappointed with the lack of cheaper options.
The Good
The Gondola between Mountain Village and Telluride was great. If you stayed in town, you did not need a car during your stay to get anywhere.
The OK
Due to the clientele being mostly families, this is not a party town. Most of the bars were quiet after 8. I was a little disappointed in the lack of younger people there.
Conclusion
I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting, but this trip didn't leave me amazed. The runs were fine, but nothing felt extraordinary and the food and lodging were all very expensive. I'm glad I went, but don't think I'd ever go back. If I had to imagine the ideal client for this resort, it would be a wealthy, athletic 40 year old who enjoys difficult terrain. The intermediate runs here aren't anything interesting and there are far cheaper areas in Colorado for a novice to learn to ski or snowboard.

I’ve skied throughout most of the western resorts and this was my first time traveling to Telluride with my 14 year old son. We traveled after the holiday week.
2023 has been a great season for snow and conditions were fantastic. Incredible variety of terrain, manageable size and no crowds. Compare to Breck, Park City, Aspen and Vail - cost of dinning, crowds and getting around is all better in my opinion. Stay in town or upper mountain village - no need to get on a bus, I guess we could have made reservations for dinner but didn’t and worked out perfectly. Lunch - so easy to ski into town or upper village with little crowds, variety of food. Lunch for the 2 of us was never more than $30.
We planned ahead with Epic pass (provides 7 days to Telluride) and called the mountain directly and got a reasonable price on great resort (the Peaks) located in upper village.
Yes, it’s not easy or inexpensive to get to (park city wins) but the amount of skiing without crowds, quality of terrain, lots of very helpful staff, overall vibe and cost make this a top spot for me. Looking forward to coming back.

If you are a powder skier you will love this place! Our instructor, David, was the best we have ever had! We have skied many years and are in our 60's and still learn new skills every time!

We love this mountain, skiing here every year. But this year we can’t help but notice some deficiencies. The lift replacement project is running late, grooming is erratic and poorly communicated, the resort app has issues, and there are reduced on -mountain eating options.
Lots of energy seems to be being spent on the terrain park, which is lucky to have more than a handful of people on it at any one time. Meanwhile popular runs are left ungroomed. The once brilliant full day lesson programme that kept us coming back to Telluride also has succumbed to the conventional half day instruction.
Things that remains amazingly though are the resort staff, especially the ski instructors, and of course the exceptional setting and terrain. This is a special place that deserves a little more attention to detail.

Telluride is one of the $200+ a day club....but offers shockingly bad value for money. It considers itself to be a top international resort, but when nature does not provide the snow, there is very little seemingly being done to deliver value for the lift pass. There appears to be an extensive snow making network....but most of it was not in use during our visit. This was despite the fact none of the trails to Telluride town were open, nor many from Telluride to Mountain village. The entire area served by lift 9 was closed and lift 9 which serves the area was still under reconstruction. Revelation bowl was closed too despite some snow fall during the week. When it did snow (and we are talking 6 inches max), the avalanche patrol/blasting was not completed until 10.30 to 11am. Cue an almighty scrum when the gates did finally open....American lift line etiquette disappeared in a fight to get to the powder!
The lifts which were operating seemed to stop continuously (something very dodgy on the powder queen lift)...leading to long lift lines...up to 40 minutes. We were fortunate enough not to be staying in Telluride town....skiers had to use the gondola to return resulting in the largest lines of the day...looked like 1 hour!
we will not be rushing to return

We've always stayed in the town of Telluride before, but are considering staying at a place in Mountain Village (but not right in the village core). I understand there is a Dial-a-Ride service. Does it allow dogs? We'd like to take our dogs to the Gondola and down into town. We have 2 lab mixes. Thank you.

The gondola is very dog friendly as is the town in general. Every third gondola is for dogs. Gondola is the best way to get to town unless you stay past midnight
Don’t know about dial a ride and dogs

We are considering a visit to Telluride in early December 2020 which would be 10 days to 2 weeks after opening. Can anyone comment on the snow and skiing has been early in the season the last couple of years?

It was great this year, remember, it’s weather, hopefully you will have plenty of snow to play it. Telluride is an awesome place
