Interesting to see a lock on the great river. It has been there for years apparently. Worth a look at it and it would have been fascinating to see it actually working.

It was great to see the lock and learn how it works. We even saw some pelicans and birdlife. A beautiful spot to spend a little time.

The weir and lock was built in 1929 just near the point where th darling meets the Murray River and is an importnat part of the river management system. It is an interesting lock like most of the others.

This large lock/weir across the Murray River in Wentworth has a large grassy area with some shade trees and a toilet opposite with drinking fountain and potable water tap.
Would be better if the seating areas were in shade but the information boards were interesting.

This is just near the local cemetery and there are bbq facilities. Lots of lawn area for kids to run. Information signing around to explain the lock.

Visited on Friday 13th March. Another lock on the Murray River. We maintained and worth stopping to look at.

OK, a river lock is not the most sensational or entertaining of tourist destinations, but if you're in Wentworth - go see it. It is in really good condition with lots of birds hanging around to see what might come out of the weir. Just down the road there is a nice big park where the Darling and Murray rivers converge.

We travelled through Wentworth which is surrounded by desert. Not much greenery anywhere. The lock is quite interesting. Would be good to see a boat go through where the Murray and darling river meet. Lots of lovely places to sit and watch the birds, ducks and large pelicans.

A few facts and figures about the river etc plus a map. Gives a good overview of river with the weir and lock system.
