Beautiful, well kept grounds, log cabins depicting life in pioneer days, furniture and other items from that era, and much more all with a view of the lake. Fun for all ages and a history lesson too. I'll be back with my grand kids at least a few times, during their special celebrations this summer. Check them out on Facebook for dates and time of their special events:

Grove, Oklahoma has a wonderful historical gem in Har-Ber Village!!
Named after a wonderful couple, Harvey and Bernice Jones and now with 100 buildings filled with history, this is not to be missed! Friendly staff, great gift shop, demonstrations of weaving, etc.- all reasonably priced and in a beautiful setting on banks of Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, this unique museum has something for all ages to see.
There are plentiful benches to rest on if the climb up the slopes is too difficult for those with bad knees and a great little tea room/cafe in which to eat and be refreshed.

We almost didn't go, after all we had done a series of mock pioneer towns, and felt it would be repetitive. But it really isn't that at all. Housed IN the various old buildings are collections of old things that border on eccentric at times, but are always fascinating. Whatever your interest, you will find an amazing assortment of items to look at: Medical, dental equipment, mercantile stores, old food items, baskets, pewter, pottery, market stores, fashions, textiles, quilts, glassware, horse buggies, saddles, stagecoaches, trains, guns, stuffed animals, toys, assorted collections of memorabilia, jewelry, buttons, fabric, antique dolls, farm equipment, school house, pharmacy, a church, waterwheel, wishing wells, the list is endless... Also a good display on the Grand River dam

Har-Ber Village consists of many cottages and cabins, many old and reassembled at the Village, There is a chapel, Dr and dentist offices, settlers cabin, etc. with 1880s to 1920s antiques. Some are reconstructed as they would have looked at the time.
Additional collections are dolls, crafts, carriages, and the trophy collection of a famous hunter (taxidermy specimens including two very large bears).
Much of the village could be accessible with a wheel chair or a scooter, but the chapel is at the bottom of a small hill and some of the other buildings are on the slope down to it.
The flower beds were not in bloom in early April. You can see the condo tower at Shangra-la in the distance across the lake from the waterfront at H-B.

My husband and I went here today, and we were equally impressed and disappointed at the same time. The exhibits are awesome, but it's hard to enjoy it when TONS of bees and wasps are trying to attack you and billions of nats are flying into your nose and mouth. DEFINITELY want to go to this when it's colder so there are no bugs.

I'm so sorry the insects ruined your day. The bees you saw were male wood boring bees and they do not sting. They are pollinators. Because Har-Ber Village is located on the lake, we minimize pest control to prevent any chemicals from going into our watershed.

I great walk through museum that I think the entire family will enjoy! The various exhibits show how we lived during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There is a very good little restaurant/snack bar close to the entrance that serves soups, hamburgers, etc. I have been there many times since moving to Grove 20 years ago and see something different each time I go.

Does the cafe have air-conditioning?My mom is in her 80's and wants to wait for my daughter and I while we tour, with her cool iced tea, but an air conditioned waiting area would be perfect. Thanks for your help.

Yes it does. I would suggest driving up to the cafe. It's up the hill and has parking. Get the fried green tomatoes! Also check out the kitchen garden. Very cool.

Why is it so difficult to find admission information for your attraction? Is Har-Ber Village a for-profit organization or its it supported by grants and government funding?
Thank you,

Our one free day a year always coincides with Pelican Fest which was last weekend. Consider purchasing a membership--2016 memberships are available now--and you can visit free every day of the season. Memberships are about twice the cost of one day's admission sonic you visit twice you've come out even.
