Took the grandkids to play disc golf. It was a nice course. A bit challenging, elevation wise, compared to other courses, but very well kept.

Went walking along trail up the hillside. Went up to the top, and saw a fantastic view. Planing on returning with friends.

Great local place to spend the afternoon. The trails are clear of obstacles but need to be better identified. Lots of areas to fish or bring a chair and enjoy the view

We had a nice picnic lunch near the dam and then headed to the hiking trails at the north end of the lake. We had heard about some water falls you could hike to. We did find the water falls, which turned out to be more like small cascades. Except for the paved trail from the parking lot, we found the other trails to be very poorly marked and clearly not used very often. The map we picked up at the picnic area had the trails color coded, but the trail markers did not correspond to the colors on the map, which was also confusing.

We were here a few weeks ago to play disc golf. The course and park are both very well kept. The 18 hole course is in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers portion of the park and is well marked. When you pull into the park head down the hill towards the lake and make a right and the disc golf parking is on the left. Hole #1 tee is a bit further down the road on the right and it plays back towards the entrance. There is a course map in the parking lot and I suggest taking a photo of it to have while playing. Sometimes there are smaller course maps available here. Most of the course is open but there are some wooded holes. There are lots of elevation changes and water is in play on a few holes. The course offers A and B baskets on every hole. A = Par 57 and B = Par 67. There are picnic tables down by the water and a pavilion with tables up top overlooking the park. There were portable toilets available. There is plenty of parking. They have hiking and mountain biking trails. People also use the park for sledding and cross country skiing in the winter. It's a good place for fishing and hunting too.

We decided to take advantage of the last taste of summer and go hiking after work. I had been here a few years back for kayaking, but this was the first time hiking. We found some really good challenging trails.

This is a small quiet park. There is a lake and a trail to hike on that goes around the lake. The trail goes through the woods and can be rugged. It isn't something that you could take a stroller on, or run on. When I have visited there were only 1 or 2 other people. So I would say its not usually crowded. There aren't any amenities.

I'm somewhat local to the area and go to many local state parks in the area but one of the most peaceful and serene parks in the area is Prompton State park. Yesterday I took my dog for a ride and ended up at Prompton. No screaming kids or tons of people. We took a short hike on the west side and the dog took a swim in the clean lake. A bald eagle flew very close over head. As many stated on here in the reviews claiming that there is a large amount of ticks, this is true. However, you must realize that these are the woods! There will be ticks. All of the parks I visit in Pa.(and other states nearby) have a lot of ticks. Due to the warmer, milder winters and global warming, tick population is on the rise. Nothing we can do about that folks. Use insect repellent on yourself and topical flea and tick treatments on your dogs and you should be fine. Enjoy the park!

I went up there, on the back side of the lake on a trail and came out with ticks crawling me. Also heard that the picnic area is bad with ticks. Went up there again, fishing and the waves were so rough I couldn't keep my boat anchored. The wind comes up in late morning and the lake really gets rough. The reason you don't see a lot of people there is the local people know all this and stay away.
