Had a super chill and fun visit with Caitríona and half a dozen beautiful alpacas. We took them for a stroll and fed them, while learning a surprising amount about them. Each of them had their own quirky personality and it was interesting to watch them interact. If you’re having an active holiday, this is a lively counterpoint on a rest day.

We booked to stay here for two nights from 24th to 26th August, this was done via Air B&B
We parked up outside the bungalow and we found the key, as per instructions previously given and we let ourselves in to the property.
As we pulled up in the car, two nosey alpacas, in a field nearby, came running up to see what was going on, on maybe just to say hello. They were called Al and Teddy, they were kept separate from the other alpacas as Al had a tendency to spit, we found him to be very friendly.
We did cross over the fence into the farm area, where we met Catriona, one of the owners of the Lodge, she introduced us to the other seven beautiful alpacas. We were told all about these wonderful creatures and were offered the opportunity to join them in their paddock and feed them. Catriona was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the alpacas, we could tell that they were well loved and cared for.
We were also told about the other interesting adventures we could have with the alpacas including a trek walking them, a trek and picnic with them and a meet and greet.
It was a real delight seeing the alpacas, as we sat out in the garden Al and Teddy were in the field nextdoor and would stick their heads over the fence to say hello, loved it.
It was possible to go trekking in to the countryside on your own, just follow the signs.
At the time of our stay, the accommodation was two double bedrooms, there was a lot of decoration going on, so work in progress and more rooms to be finished.
There was a large well equipped modern kitchen with every appliance and utensil that could possibly be needed. Off that there was an elegant dining area.
The lounge was very comfortable, recently decorated and new carpet laid.
There were a few issues, but nothing major so did not impact on our enjoyment here. The shower needs modernisation. One of the double beds, was a bit wonky, the head and tail boards were bowed inwards towards each other. As I said nothing major.
Despite any flaws or defects we had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable time. We loved the alpacas and the qwerky but comfortable accommodation. It was also ideally positioned for us to go out exploring County Wexford reliving times and adventures from our childhood.
It did appear that there was a big Pub, Harneys, nearby, with a fish and chip shop beside it. We walked down the road to discover that the Pub was shut, according to the lady in the chip shop it closed down in January 2023.
We did discover Marty's Bar in the village of Oulart and Lawless' Shop and Bar in Monamolin, both a short drive away.

My partner and I visited yesterday and had such a lovely time. The owners were lovely and very welcoming. The alpacas were amazing and getting to walk them was such an experience. We also got to feed them. It’s easy to tell these animals are well taken care of. The owners were kind enough to offer to take pictures which was also amazing! Would definitely recommend to anyone.
