Beautiful minster well worth a visit. Very welcoming and full of historical interest. The vicar was very welcoming and told us a lot about the history of the building, its tombs and its construction. So interesting.

We stopped in the town for lunch after visiting Kingston Lacey. The Minster is fascinating and a proper tour would have been useful but in February we were the only visitors. It’s amazing so many artefacts have survived for over 1000 years. A very interesting time spent.

The moment you walk in the door the volunteers are welcoming and willing. You can make a donation but no one pushes you to.
One volunteer, who was obviously so proud of his church, willingly showed us things we might have missed. He knew his history and was interesting to listen to.
There is a self guided leaflet available for free.

Promptly at 10am we were the first visitors over the threshold of the minster since it closed for covid. We were given a lovely smiling reception. The welcomers were there in force, debating among them selves the finer points of mask wearing and when to break for coffee. It is a large church, and currently without an organ, which is being rebuilt and renewed, a huge and worthwhile project. The chained library has not yet reopened, but a short video is available, and a nice little booklet which gives a useful list of the books held there. Interesting to see the tomb of Henry VII’s grandparents, and the only memorial brass to an English king, Ethelred, brother of Alfred the Great. The church sits in comfortable repose close to the main square of Wimborne. …. This visit was in 2021.

Greeted as we entered by a lovely chap who was happy to give us history and facts, but still let us wander round at our own pace and enjoy the atmosphere - a beautiful historic Minster.

Lovely building, both inside and external. the Minster of course lends its name to the town that grew up alongside. The building has "checkerboard " effect in local stone. This Minster a splendidly maintained and loved church, well supported locally. The chained library is justifiably famous - a legacy of when the printed word was so expensive. Outside to the joy of children and adults alike is the Quarter jack which are large figures high up on the front of the tower, and move to strike every 15 minutes, four times an hour, therefore the name.
The Minster is very much the centre of this charming town

We made the trip from Lymington and had an early supper at the Wimborne Pig. Lovely evening out, Stunningly good concert with an exceptional bass soloist (who sang at Harry and Meghans wedding.

I really enjoyed visiting this place. It was absolutely beautiful. The doors and windows were lovely. It was nice to see people seated on the grass and on the benches appreciating the view.
