Just alittle field trip

It's a nice bridge, but utterly failing in any detail, as if the locals' don't want ti to be memorialized. I had too many questions, that even Wikipedia could not answer.

Just a bridge
ago. de 2018 • Solitario
Maybe I’m naive having lived in the area my whole life but doesn’t seem like anything to make a trip to see. I’m not sure how much of it is original but it’s been rebuilt or remodeled mostly. Unless you are on a mission to see all the covered bridges you can see, don’t go out of your way for this. Just my opinion.

Historical Treasure

Can't pass by this bridge without thinking how much history we've lost over the years by neglect and apathy-grateful for the work that they town does to preserve our collective history.

Another great covered bridge added to my collection

Our trip to WV was a chance to visit some covered bridges that had different construction from ours in New England. This one is beautifully preserved.

Beautiful bridge, not much else

Based on the other Trip Advisor reviews, we decided to take the detour off I-79 to see a piece of history.
The drive is not too bad; it is only ~3 miles from I-79 (through central Fairmont and a windy road to Barrackville).
There's not much at the site except for the beautiful bridge, a small river, and an info placard. A very small parking area is available on the far side of the bridge. Pedestrians can walk through the bridge and admire the craftsmanship and history of this covered bridge.
Barrackville has nothing else of note to see.

Small Town Beauty and History
mar. de 2015 • Familia
Having grown up in Barrackville it's difficult to appreciate the beauty and historical value that the local covered bridge has to offer. After moving away and returning to visit, we stopped and checked out the bridge with our young daughter. We were amazed at how much she enjoyed running and walking through it. My husband, now an engineer, also appreciated the design and strength it has after so many years.

Whether you enjoy beauty or history, it's definitely worth checking out.

Cool little place in history
dic. de 2015 • Familia
In town visiting family and realized this cool little slice of history is close to their home. Went to visit. Was cool. The bridge is closed to traffic. Had fun walking through and exploring. Not a lot to see around these parts - this a cool little hidden gem. If you are in the area - worth the visit.

Covered Bridge tour in WV
ago. de 2014 • Pareja
Plotted out an afternoon trip through the backroads of central WV to see several covered bridges. Fun way to spend an afternoon in a new area. Map was easy to find on a web search engine. We found 5 of the 6 we had planned on. Seeing the bridges is half the fun. Being off the interstate and driving around the country side, stopping at small town stores, visiting with locals added to the enjoyment. West Virginia and Pennsylvania have quite a few covered bridges still standing. Of the 5 we saw 4 had been restored. The Bridge in Barrackville was the most interesting and a plaque states that it is most original.
