Admission is free, which is nice, but be advised that the parking lot is very small. They provide a map but it wasn't much help. When you're on the lower level you don't hear the road noise and it's quite nice.

An extensive natural spot. An underrated gem. Nicknamed "The tropical jewel of the Botanical Gardens". Free of Charge, which is a rarity on the Hawaiian islands. Meticulously attended. Huge variety - mostly marked - of greenery. Paths are naturally placed. Leased in 1920 by Sugar Planters Association from the Sate of Hawaii for experimental tree planting. Later turned back to Honolulu and became the Botanical Garden of Oahu. The huge trees originated in 1920 still standing strong.

These gardens are beautiful and worth the trip! The trees are well marked. There are several terraces that can be accessed by anyone, as well as a couple that requires steps. There are peaceful places just to sit and take it all in.

A beautiful jungle of greenery, well marked areas, easy paths, few visitors. Worth a return visit. Sufficient parking. A good spot to stop when returning from the North coast.

A very nice, small native botanical garden. Some very interesting trees (rainbow Eucalyptus).
It IS a little buggy, so bring bug spray or head-to-toe clothing. A very convenient stop on the way to the north Shore.

We stopped to spend a few hours exploring the gardens. There were quite a few cars in the lot and a good number of people in the entry area to the grounds. There used to be no charge but they take donations for upkeep. There used to be an online digital map you can access otherwise there are paper naps available at the entry area. There are a lot of trails throughout and basically two specific areas… the top paved trails with marked pants and trees and a lower area that has rugged trails and is not as kept up. We went on the side of being adventurous and hit trails in both areas. The bottom is quite rugged and can be muddy when wet and trails didn’t seem real well marked, but we found our way around and enjoyed both the walking and the experience. Nice free gardens to explore.

This is a calm and cooler temperature location. There is a brochure that tells about the variety of plants and trees. It's a small sized location, with an optional path down the hill. Easy walk on the upper part of the garden, steeper climb up and down to the ravine area. It's free entry and parking, in a quiet neighborhood. If you're going to or from the North Shore this is a convenient stop.

We wanted visit some beaches while driving the island, but couldn't find parking, so we visited this garden instead. This is the first garden we visited in Hawaii. We walked around the garden and saw some flowers and big tresses. It was a nice walk. The garden is free and easy to find parking.

As mentioned in other posts there is a lot of dead ends and no real signage to point you back to the exit. The trees and plants were nice but the favourite part was the little lizards that we saw

Is this all waking or smart of it by tram?

All walking. And if you wish to walk down into the ravine (paved path) I recommend walking shoes (tennis-type) as it is steep. A beautiful place to take photos.

I didn't see any dogs there but they do have a "contact" link on their web page so best to check with them directly.
