The bees to mead tour was fantastic! Loved being able to interact with the bees and get a close up look at the hive. Yummy honey! Tour included a variety of mead tasting. Parking is limited by the store and the location appears concerning. The website makes it seem to be in an upscale neighborhood so don't expect it to be. Seemed to be safe though so don't let that scare you away from a fun experience. Wear old closed toe shoes if going on the tour as the bee hive area might be a little muddy if it rained recently. They offer tastings without the tour, but you would be missing out on a great learning experience.

lets get the bad news outta the way first.... it's hard to find and located in a place where you're not really expecting to find a business, yet if you're just starting out, sometimes you just gotta start somewhere.... parking is... marginal.

Yet.... despite that, what they do here is somewhat unique, they're found a way to more or less translate mead into more of a sparkling cider affair with multiple unique flavors. Not to say that they can't and don't offer old school meads, they do and the tasting flights offer some of each kind in hopes of finding something that matches your pallette. I can't say that I liked it all, but there's no lack of variety and that's also true for what they offer on the honey side.

We came away with a jar of the butter rum honey (imagining it on my french toast.... or vanilla ice cream) and some of the ghost pepper honey for a tantalizing dipping side for some wings.... and on the mead side we sprung for the Slee Ping Potion, but your tastes may vary and their website offers the whole gamut of selections.

If these guys move into nice digs, their products are going to be in high demand (imo)

We went here to sample some Hawaiian meads. They did not disappoint!! It was tricky finding the location - our Uber/Lyft driver took a wrong turn - but it was so worth the slight misadventure!! The staff were very informative and helpful. The meads were very good.

This is a great find and we highly recommend the apiary tour and mead tasting. They only take small groups of six, so book early! Lewis, the bee keeper took us on a short drive from the retail/processing facility to one of their smaller apiaries. We learned so much about the bees, bee keeping, and honey making! We got to see the hives up close (in safety gear) and even got to see baby bees hatching. The tour ends back at the facility with a mead tasting and tour of the mead making process. You can also taste the different types of honey. Lewis was a great guide and answered all of the group’s questions. This is well worth the trip away from the tourist areas of Oahu!

Here is another out of the way, hidden gem we recently found in the middle of no where. Located in a residential area just outside of downtown Wahiawa and at the end of a dead end, it is something you could do a side trip to when doing an island drive to or from the North Shore of Oahu.

They offer honey wine and mead tastings at this small little factory in a cute little showroom. Of course they offer honey and other related items as well. It's not big, nor fancy, just very cute and something different to do.

The honey wines were okay, but not really my thing. It was the meads that I thoroughly enjoyed. I also bought some cacao nibs honey and ghost pepper honey take home and they were amazing. They offer a lot of items that are great for gifting and their packaging is high quality, so it doesn't look like you have purchased it at a craft & food fair.

Please remember to drink responsibly if you do have tasting.

Manoa Honey Farm has been around for many years. They own bee hives all over Oahu, which they harvest and process at their facility in Wahiawa. A mainstay of farmers markets, Manoa Honey recently turned part of their facility to retail. They have a selection of honey jars, from basic to infused with ghost peppers, cocoa nibs, and other spices. Hours are limited, be sure to call and inquire if you're planning on stopping by.

Manoa Honey also got into mead making, with Manoa Meadery. In June 2020 they started with their first three selections, all available for purchase at their shop. If you can't make it, it's also for sale at Village Bottle Shop in Kaka'ako. All are priced at $15 a bottle. Their first three flavors are Lilikoi, Pineapple, and a Rose.

Also keep an eye open for their special holiday bundles with meats, cheese, and their mead and honey.

Shout out to Yuki-san for being so welcoming and telling us about the business. This is a must visit for any honey fan.

One negative: this neighborhood is not the best and we had an incident during our visit. Park close to the store entrance and be mindful of your surroundings.

Manoa Honey is down a tiny little side street and you’ll be sure that you’re in the wrong place, but you’re not! Go through the screen door and someone will come to help you! The honey is delicious and they have three types from Oahu and two others from the other islands. They also sell blocks of beeswax. A great stop!
