We had an absolutely wonderful time on a morning paddleboard trip with LightSUP! I went with my 12 and 8 year old kids - the elder had his own paddleboard and the younger shared with me. The surf was pretty aggressive, so I think we saw fewer fish than the guides hoped, but my kids had such a great time navigating the waves and trying to stay on their boards. We ended up with a private tour and our guide was more than happy to cater to what my kids were interested in doing. He also took more than 100 pictures of us, which he airdropped to me at the conclusion of our tour. All in all it was really a fantastic trip!

My second time going out on the ocean with this lovely Hawaiian family. I never thought I would be so comfortable on the ocean at night, but being able to see everything beneath the board helped me feel confident. It was magical to be in the warm water under the star filled sky & cresent moon. Oh, and there were sea creatures and fish to see as well!

We did a sunset paddle with LightSUP in 2021 and upon our return to the Big Island in 2024 it was the one thing everyone agreed we had to do again. Ray, Kelly, Bella, Mark, and crew are wonderful guides, educators, and stewards of the reef. Learned a ton both times and grateful that they made it easy to adjust timing to ensure optimal (and safe!) conditions, It was just as magical to be on the ocean with the stars coming out and reef life beneath us the second trip as the first. Would do again (and again and again)!

We LOVED our adventure with Bella (and Rey). So happy to support a small family business with incredible service, amazing knowledge and a beautiful sunset over Kona. We saw some lovely sights and enjoyed the ambiance 🥰🥰🥰 Absolute pleasure, we will be back! Much love from the Australians!

Fantastic sunset till dark trip with a Birds Eye view of a coral reef-FYI the fish that come out at evening are different than the daytime fish so even if you snorkel/dive during the day you will see many different fish on this trip. Also no experience is needed for these paddle boards as the best view is either sitting or kneeling on the board as you peer through the transparent bottom. You only stand if you really want to. The owners Ray and Kelly and their daughter Bella were great and were also our guides. We highly recommend this trip especially if you have never seen a reef at night.

My husband and I booked the 2 hour SUP Morning Tour, and the entire experience was perfect from start to finish, even down to the confirmation email and detailed directions to the meetup location at Puako. Neither of us had ever used a paddleboard, and Ray and Bella provided a thorough review so we'd feel confident on the board - sitting, kneeling or standing. Out in the bay they pointed out not only the varieties of fish visible below us, but also spoke about the health of the coral reef. We were completely relaxed on the boards so we could fully enjoy the experience; Ray and Bella even took care of photos and videos! An extra bonus was spotting some turtles. Overall this was a fantastic morning adventure with the unique twist of the board's large 'window' led by our knowledgeable and authentic hosts. We highly recommend LightSUP Hawaii and plan to join a Sunset tour on our next trip to the Big Island. Thank you so much, Ray and Bella!

My three sons and I had an amazing early morning tour in Puako with owner Raymond and his daughter Bella -- truly the highlight of our trip to the Big Island. What a wonderful way to get out on the ocean and see coral, turtles, and fish. Raymond and Bella were the best guides -- fun and encouraging. All of my kids had a great time, and Bella was so good with my youngest, who rode on her board. She hooked him up right away with a fish identification card, which gave him something to do other than feel like the little guy who wasn't on a board of his own. He had a great time.
And what a cool invention! The LightSUP paddle boards were designed by Raymond and Bella, and the viewing window is such an awesome way to see ocean life!
Highly recommend this for a novel experience on the Big Island!

This was hands down the best experience we have had in Kona! Mark, our guide, we very personable, knowledgeable and helpful. We never paddle boarded before in the past, and Mark was very encouraging, cheering us on along the way. We had a great time!!! If you are looking for once in a lifetime type of activity, this is it! We saw eel, puffer fish, sea urchins and several different types of fish. The sunset was gorgeous. Mahalo!

We had the best guides Mark and Maria. They were patient with our group. They shared a lot of information and we found eel, puffer fish, and needle fish. We had a blast and definitely would recommend.

What an amazing and literally one of a kind experience! This is such a genius idea and a truly novel way to experience Hawaiian water and marine life. Obviously every trip is different but we experienced a beautiful sunset, a full rainbow, and a wide array of fish, many of which you won't see on a typical snorkel trip.
The guides were super friendly and helpful both in helping us book and plan, being thoughtful with planning a good location based on wind and water conditions, and being great during the tour as well, telling us all about what we were looking at, and helping us get back on the board when we went for a dip (purposefully of course!).
If you are at all interested in doing this, trust me you should do it - it's awesome!
