The world would be a better place if we had more powers like Tom & Dee. They graciously share Rural Rootz with many and their property was the first to be gifted to Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy so it can be enjoyed for many generations to come. We had an enlightening animal track lesson on the property along their trails. It is amazing what a skilled tracker can know about the sex, health & planned path of the animal.

Rural Rootz is an amazing place for nature and garden lovers! The owners created gardens and paths with mainly natural materials and gifted plants while trying to maintain the natural aspects of the grounds.
Tom and Dee are very enthusiastic and generous hosts and they are very willing to explain what they have done and why. It was a very inspiring visit for us as well!

I did a Forest Therapy walk in the morning, followed by tea with Tom and Dee in the guest shop, a hike on The Bruce Trail loop on their property, and a walk in their beautiful gardens, including a sound garden and labyrinth. Tom and Dee are generous and welcoming hosts, stewarding this 100-acre property for the enjoyment of their guests and future generations. Easy to spend a day here -- or longer, if you arrange to stay overnight in your own RV or their accommodations.

Stayed overnight with Harvest Host.
Tom and Dee have done a super job of this retreat in the woods. Beautiful gardens, inspiring hosts with many artistic talents and a wonderful attitude to life.
Very inspiring visit, wonderful hosts.
A hidden gem, with gardens, walking paths, dragons, and a labyrinth you can walk.

The hosts - Tom and Dee make it for a very personal experience . Unique garden, well marked hiking trails, gift shop, 2 labyrinths to go through. A must visit for a spiritual person of any kind.

We love this place! The hosts are friendly and welcoming. The gardens are beautiful and unique. The trails are very well marked and a lot of fun climbing upon various rocks. We stayed overnight in the “treehouse”. It slept 3 of us comfortably. Waking up with a view of the forest was spectacular. Looking forward to our next visit!

What a magical place in the forest! We will definitely go back again and bring our grandkids next time, maybe even go for a hike with them. Tom told us so many interesting facts about the area.
Thanks for the Sunshine Tea.

Unfortunately during our visit the garden was closed. However, we did do the Rural Rocks side trail. The trailhead is located right next to the road at the base of the property. There are 2 or 3 parking spots here. The trail is beautiful and well marked. It’s a fairly easy hike, but some parts are a bit difficult, i.e. tight squeezes, climbing up and down large rocks. took us about and hour and a half to complete, but that’s including many stops for pictures. Bug spray is a necessity! Bring water bottles and a camera. Overall, it’s a must see if you enjoy hiking through beautiful scenery.

Thank you for your report on the trail here at Rural Rootz, at this time it is the only Satellite (remote) trail in the entire Bruce Trail system.
It is a treasure and we really appreciate all of the hours the Bruce Trail volunteers put in keeping it safe and clean.
We do apologize for not being here to greet you, we are only 2 people and we occasionally need to get out to grab supplies etc.
You can call and make an appointment and we'll guarantee we'll be here awaiting your arrival with a glass of our famous Sunshine Tea 519 534 2522
Thanks for the good review, Tom and Dee

Loved the hike. The scenery varies deeply across the 2+ hours. Huge boulders, caves, forest, lake, and wildlife. Do this one on a weekend so you don’t have to listen to the equipment in the quarry down the road while you walk the trails. Also be aware that this is not a hike for inexperienced children. There are some dangerous transitions in the rock segment that would challenge some adults. Our kids wear good boots and are climbers so no problems but we even had some close call slips and trips.
