I love the outdoors and comfort….JB trading was the perfect spot! The platform glamp cabins have a comfortable bed electricity and fridge! Beautiful setting. Will definitely be back! However close to a hwy so car sounds all night.

Jeff was a pleasure to do business with. The staff are cheerful and helpful, the food is great, there's all sorts of gear available if you forget or break something.

The first night I used the delightful hammock grove and was in chatting distance of my friends in their tents. The next night we backpacked to the river bottom for 3 nights. After one night we froze and hightailed it back out the next morning. We were exceedingly grateful for the next few nights in a cozy platform hut at JB!

We were 3 girlfriends and nobody wanted to share a bed, so I got the very comfortable double bed, one got the futon and the third says she was perfectly cozy with her pad and sleeping bag on the kitchenette floor. There's a mini fridge, window AC and a space heater, which is really all we needed.

Everything in the facility is sparkling clean and well maintained, our cabin, the luxury bathhouse, the campground and hammock grove, everything was just delightful. The wifi was great in and around the bath house, the hammock grove and campsites, but not in the huts. There was absolutely no signal with Verizon, ATT or TMobile, which were all represented in our little group.

Oh, and that awful review by KennyD1983? Just bear in mind that some people are never satisfied no matter what you do. Yes, the shower takes quarters. After freezing on our backpacking trip, it would have been nice to stand in the hot shower for a long time - but multiply that by everyone in the campground and it would be unsustainable. I thought the price was fair. I've seen quarter showers in commercial campgrounds all over the country. Maybe KennyD only camps in state parks. I will allow that there wasn't much shade outside the grove. We were there in November so it wasn't an issue.

Consejo sobre las habitaciones: Campsites are close to hammock grove so if you're in a hammock and your buddies are in tents...

We had a great stay here 4/15-18, we were in RV spot #3. This spot was great because it’s on the end, looks out to the pond and has the largest grass area. Bathrooms cere clean and updated, showers so cost 25 cents per minute, but we knew this because it’s disclosed on their website. We did not use them though during our stay so I cannot say if they heated up fast or we’ll. The store/restaurant was great, we had a good breakfast this morning before heading home. The store had everything you could think of, from grocery items to hardware to camping and so much in between. The only thing I wish they had was fire pits with a grate for cooking burgers and things. They have a fire pit and a separate grill area, but the grill would be easier with charcoal (we only brought wood), we tried putting a log in it and cook with that but it didn’t work. All in all we had a great experience here

I guess I'll start with the only positive... They have clean bathrooms. It's been renovated fairly recently.

Now on to the rest...

This is the first and only campground I've been to that has pay showers. It's 25¢ per minute, and it supposedly takes a couple minutes to warm up. I cannot verify this, because they didn't tell this to us when we booked over the phone. So nobody brought quarters. So after a long day of paddling the chilly Buffalo River, our kids couldn't take a hot shower to warm up. That was really fun to explain to some 10 year olds. By the time we got there, the store wasn't open, so we just had to deal without it. I've camped all over America, and have never seen a campground with a pay shower.

Considering we paid almost $60, a free shower is the bare minimum you'd expect. The owner said it was to keep people from using up all the hot water heater by taking long showers. That's just a lie. He just doesn't want to pay for the water and heat to warm it up. If he was really concerned about people using up the hot water, he'd have a tankless water heater. It heats it on demand. Being it takes a couple minutes to warm up (which you pay for), he probably is using one already, and is just lying to cover his greed.

So beyond dealing with cold and upset children, here's my other complaints...

When you go into a place like the Ozark National FOREST, you'd expect some trees. But there aren't any except in the "hammock area." I hope you like waking up very early and sweating, because shade doesn't exist here.

What you end up with is a grass lawn. Sounds nice, right? Well, I've lived in the Appalachians, Rockies, and the Ozarks, as well as several other states throughout the country. And Arkansas has more ticks and tick borne illnesses than anywhere I've ever been. Some of those diseases are much worse than Lyme disease. The last place you want to set up camp is on a grass lawn surrounded by dense woods. That place is Tick City, USA.

So let's say you're fine with paying for a shower, and brought tweezers to deal with the ticks. At least you'll sleep well in the woods, right? That will completely depend on your neighbors. Because you'll be getting to know them very well with how densely packed this campground is. You'll definitely be able to hear them snore and fart all night. There's absolutely zero privacy.

And many of the sites require a decent walk, because you can't park next to your site. Have fun dragging your gear through other people's camp sites. They pack that place like sardines. Why? I'm guessing it goes back to the greedy owner. But maybe he just lacks the intelligence to create a decent campground. I mean, he had to have cleared away all the trees when he built it. It's in the middle of a National Forest.

And be very careful with the private road that runs parallel to the campground. There was some jerk in a pick-up truck driving way too fast and revving his engine going up and down it.

I will definitely avoid the place in the future. I hit the Buffalo at least once a year. Right now, all of the National Park campgrounds are closed, so it's one of the few available options in the area. But Covid won't last forever, and neither will this place if the owner continues to act so greedy. And be sure to get gas before you get to that area. He charges about 18% more for unleaded and 50% more for diesel than the Kingston Store, which is in the middle of nowhere without any competition. But they're good folks over there. Too bad they don't run a campground.

Best advice I can give is to stay away. I'll be sure nobody I know ever goes there again.

Well sometimes "Uncle Eddie" comes to visit and this is what has happened. Glad they are gone and glad they aren't coming back. Not sure how bad it was when they asked to stay another night and things turned ugly after they were told we were full. Yes, showers are 25 cents per minute. Yes this controls the usage and allows everyone a chance to shower. This is fully disclosed on our website. Tough to imagine 4 adult men and three vehicles have no loose change lying around. Snickers bars cost money in the store too, which isn't disclosed on our website, but be warned. Sites are $25.00 per night, per site. He can't do math. I guess ticks wouldn't live among trees. Although we have grass and trees and I'm sure some bugs. Might want to stay home next time and sit on the couch. But overall thanks for the great review, about what was expected after your rude treatment to our campground host. Oh well, enough time wasted on this person and his in-accurate information. We will continue to do great things and happily exist without his business. I'll remember you fondly next Christmas when your back on the air.

My friend and I had just finished up a few days of backpacking recently this fall. It was a cold weekend and we were getting ready to head back home. We were needless to say a little filthy. We stopped by to get gas and to freshen up a bit. The place was clean and welcoming. We left some dirt in the bathroom because of our boots and when asked where the broom was so we could clean up the gentleman said we will take care of this for you. We sat and had an amazingly delicious cheeseburger and fries while we warmed up. What made this place extra special is we heard the manager asking a customer who was walking on this frigid day if she needed a ride to her destination. She looked a little down and out, but refused a ride. After she left, he got in his car to offer her a ride again which she took him up on. Must have been a local that he was familiar with. Not many people or business owners go out of their way to help like this. We will definitely be back and give them our business. It was a great experience.

The Trading Co is the first stop you’ll see on the way into Boxley and Ponca. They have a good variety of hot food, tons of camping essentials and helpful staff. You can fill up your Gas tank and get anything you forgot on your way out the door.

This store could easily be your first and only stop before heading into the Ozarks for a week.
