Triple sheeting our beds ensures cleanliness... we agree with your feeling about quilted spreads! Thank you very much for such a lovely review. We love when guests enjoy our parlor and are happy that you enjoyed the hooks and the toilet paper. We want our guests to feel as though they are in our home and we certainly wouldn't want anyone to use sandpaper! ;) We are sorry that you weren't able to make it to the Gold Museum (certainly something to see!) but hopefully this means that another visit to Dahlonega is in your future! I am so very sorry that you did not have a good experience at our hotel. We take all reviews seriously. We are delighted, however, that you found the rooms to be large, clean and nice looking. You are correct, we are not a bed and breakfast, we are a boutique hotel with 13 rooms and that is clearly stated on our website. It sounds like you were greeted, escorted to your room, shown how to use the keypad lock on the door and were acquainted with your room, including information about our our smoke detectors, which are the latest and very sensitive and steam from the showers will set them off, so we do alert our guests to this fact and ask them to shut the bathroom door and run the fan when showering. Additionally, you mentioned that you had discussion with the individual who escorted you to your room and she gave you recommendations for dinner. In other words, she spent time with you. When she saw you again entering from the parking lot door, she automatically assumed you were another guest and made sure to greet you... sometimes we are busy and do not initially see who we are greeting. At least you were not ignored. In an effort to ensure that our guests get a good nights sleep, we provide ear plugs for those who might be light sleepers to enable them to sleep well, as we are located downtown. We do enjoy visiting with our guests in the lobby and like to share information about Dahlonega and hear what brought our guests to our town. It is my hope that that is what you are referring to when you stated you were "accosted". Because our office is tucked away, we do make an effort when we see guests in the lobby to make sure they do not need anything. Sometimes people are in the lobby looking for us. We actually love when our guests linger and relax in the lobby/parlor and on our front porch, and to entice our guests to do just that, we have infused water ready to greet them in the lobby and in the cooler months we have lap blankets available for our porch sitting guests. As for cleaning the room, we are very aware that check-out is by 11AM, however, once a guest has packed their bags and departed the room with their belongings, we assume they are gone even if it is before 11, as check-out is BY 11AM, which means anytime up to 11AM. Our housekeepers never begin cleaning a room unless it is empty and staff gives the okay, so I am not sure as to what you are referring. We make a point of trying to see guests before they depart to say goodbye and wish our guests safe travels. What would be the point of cleaning a room before the guests had departed? I welcome a phone call from you so that I can get a better grasp on your concerns. Thank you for taking the time to write and post a review.

Is it all on one floor? Looks like it is a single home/cottage. Comfortable bed? Clean?
I stayed in the hotel. Three stories with an elevator. I didn't see the cottages, sorry. PS I thought you might like to know they do not serve breakfast. But it is a lovely clean hotel.

How is the Historic Villa?
The Grand View and Mountain View villas are the only villas with porches (front and back porches).

Are dogs welcomed small dog
While we love dogs, they cannot stay in hotel rooms or villas ... Barking and pet dander left behind will disturb other guests. Regards, The Dahlonega Square Hotel & Villas Staff
