I am happy to say this "glamp ground" met all my expectations (and more!). I went to college in western MD, and this is where I met my husband (29 years ago!!!). With all the craziness going on in the world right now (ya know, pandemics & politics), we decided we needed to get away for a few days. We booked Cortina from 7/6-7/10. We found a dog sitter, even though dogs are allowed, and left our home in eastern PA for the 5 hour journey to Oakland, MD. The glamping huts are so cute. The decor was representative of some of the places the owners had visited during their journeys. I loved the batik comforter! You literally need to bring almost nothing with you since many necessities are provided. However, you do need pillow cases, bed sheets, & towels. If you a nature-lover, I highly recommend you take the 2-mile round trip hike down to the Youghiogheny. It's like a private oasis where you can sit on the deck, and listen to the animal sounds and trickling water. Just be prepared for the uphill climb as you make your way back to the pavilion. If you want to go for a drive, head to Swallow Falls SP (no dogs allowed). It is beautiful. The bathrooms at Wild Yough were clean. The pavilion was filled with lawn and board games. My hubby & I loved hanging out there at night with a few drinks while we sat in the rocking chairs. I can't wait to return to Wild Yough, and have already been telling my friends about how wonderful this place is. We will definitely be returning.…
We basically outgrew our van as the kids got bigger and older, and couldn't fit the tents plus all of our car camping gear into the car. So we decided to try these huts, which stock some basic cooking equipment and also mean that we wouldn't have to bring tents. (And it rained some almost every day of the vacation; not being in a tent really made for a much more enjoyable time!) Our hut slept four people barely; not a lot of spare floor space, so the air mattress that one of my kids was on took up most of the available space. we were able to store it in the "attic" of the hut during the day, which helped. Clean showers, potable water, sinks to wash everything up, and a nice pavilion area where when not visiting local attractions you can sit and read or play games. And a responsive management company -- when some of the pavilion lights were out, we called and they fixed it in a day or so. There are also trails on the property, if you want to venture not far from home-away-from-home one day. Note that this is NOT a hotel. You should expect to bring a bunch of camping gear to supplement what they provide, which is basically a Coleman stove, pots and pans, plates and silverware, and some garbage bags and paper towels. We brought our bigger propane stove, an air mattress, a boatload of lanterns (it gets very dark after sundown!), a cooler full of food to cook, etc. You also need to bring your own sheets and towels, but they provide blankets and pillows (bring pillowcases).…
