Firstly, we have to say that your review is littered with falsehoods, contradictory and coming from an ignorant position. We are a Five Star (Gold Award) Three Rosettes for food with an AA Breakfast Award - not a "Boutique B & B". If you didn't research our location before you booked that's your fault. Our prices are very competitive when compared with other establishments of similar grading and some with less ! A quick internet search will show that. As we are a Restaurant with Rooms we ask guests to dine with us at least once during their stay. As a resident you have a special rate whereby you effectively only pay £40.00 for a seven course dinner which is very reasonable to say the least. You both elected to have the seafood platter which has a £12.50 supplement because as everybody knows, lobster and langoustines are very expensive ingredients. Your nightly rate of £260.00 per room was only for the first night when you both had dinner. Gratuities are at the discretion of the guests so the fact that you left £10.00 at dinner and then another £5.00 on the morning when you had the "dog vomit" breakfast totally contradicts your comments about he level of service as if this was the case you surely wouldn't have left anything. Our chef removes the claw meat and places it on the plate by the tail so as to save diners having the fuss of removing it themselves. You kept going on and on about lobsters in Canada and Australia as well, much to the annoyance of other guests who commented to us about your ridiculous statements. At no point did we say you were rude for asking about this, that is a totally false statement. We had with us a regular guest who has scrambled egg with cheese every morning so we presume this why you asked for it. When cooking scrambled egg with grated cheese it will naturally change in appearance. You kept on saying that the eggs should be "hard" - if this were to be the case they would be overcooked. You were immediately asked if you wanted something else but you declined by saying that you now felt sick and couldn't eat anything else. To make such a vile and disgusting comment that it looked like "dog vomit" is completely unacceptable and we could not let this go without speaking to you about it. The window cleaner turned up early around 9.45am, not as you state and you were in fact in the dining room at the time. They do not climb ladders to clean the bedroom windows. Our building is not very high so they use long poles from ground level, what you saw was a window cleaner climbing the front door porch roof to clean the window on the staircase. Unfortunately we have no idea when they will arrive and we agree on this occasion it was earlier than expected. We reject your comments about the mattresses which are certainly not "broken" and they are properly supported underneath. No hairs were in the bath as these are always personally checked by us. T.V.'s in both rooms are working perfectly. We noted that you didn't even try to turn the T.V. on the second night as the remotes were left untouched in the place we position them. It was clearly a case that you could work out how to use them. Why didn't you simply come down to reception and discuss it. There is no shame in admitting you don't understand something. The wifi does work albeit because of the stone walls it can be hard to reach your end bedroom. You simply need to use the seat on the landing or come downstairs. This is a 300 year old building and in adverse weather conditions water can penetrate the windows. Your photo shows a small amount of water on the window sill, not on the carpet as you say ! It should be noted that alcoholic drinks are not sold by the "ounce" in the UK and you asked for an "an ounce and a half" of each ingredient. You therefore had 4 double measures of your alcoholic drinks and a pot of tea so the price you quote is yet again very reasonable. We are and indeed were happy to go over in detail all the charges on you bill where you wanted a break down of the drinks which you were given in full. It is ludicrous to say you weren't given a choice on water - you were, like all guests, specifically asked and you chose sparkling mineral water and you could have had tap water like everybody else. You surely don't expect us not to charge for bottled water like all other establishments. All drinks prices are prominently displayed by the restaurant door underneath a wall light totally in accordance with legislation. We repeat, we do not charge high prices and invite you to check out other establishments. We told you that in Scotland don't use ounces and lobsters are local not from Canada or Australia. It seems to us that, you realised your very insulting and rude comments about our breakfast were way over the top and you are trying to deflect by covering up with ridiculous inaccurate and false comments. We were not prepared to let your breakfast comments go unchallenged particularly after all you other erroneous complaints. As you are so free with advice, here is ours to you - It would be to become a better human being by cutting out the rude insults and learning to have manners and be polite.

We have to say that we were rather sceptical about taking your booking in the first place as you had countless and repetitive questions, and seemed as though you would be impossible to please. We explained that we only had this room available for the nights you require. You even doubted that a three rosette chef could prepare a vegetarian menu and we had to email you samples in advance for your royal assent. Upon arrival you were rude to our staff, giving out orders with no manners. In the morning you made a complaint about the mattress which was false. After you left we noticed that you had pulled part the divan (which was not like that when you checked in) on one side to try and suggest it was uneven. The other side was closed, although this was the side you complained about ! This was clearly a strategy to get our best room for no extra cost - it is also not true to say that you had no room to open your suitcase. In fact, this is the same room that the AA inspector stayed in only weeks before you, with no complaint. This is our smallest room but that is why its price reflects this.
