Fantastic find and high all the right notes, check in was very straight forward and informative. Room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, short stroll from Kildare village and Kildare train station. I can’t recommend this place enough . Will defo be returning

While its hip and cool, we didn't book in to have an interior design experience. Eating and sleeping in comfort was our only goal. Unfortunately, this is not the place to get either. RESTAURANT: Being a restaurant with no carpeting or table cloths, sound and noise bouncing around is always going to be a challenge. I checked in advance that our table was not in a high traffic area (inside the main door, or adjacent to the loos). In spite of the table for two being on the small side, it looked OK - until a large group with children was placed right alongside us. (Yes, it was an evening sitting). Twelve people conversing over a long table configuration can make a lot of noise. Added to that, each time someone from the group got up to walk around, we were so close to them our meal was interrupted quite a bit with bodies almost hitting off us. We couldn't hear each other talk, and didn't even finish our meal or wine at the table. We were on a dinner/overnight deal. Having spent nowhere near the allocated dinner budget, we were nonetheless surcharged for menu items, and the drinks were not allocated against the dinner budget. ACCOMMODATION: Its pretty much self-service and unsupervised. We had specifically requested a 'quiet room'. Like the restaurant, the hallways and bedrooms have hard flooring. The fire dampers on the bedroom doors do not facilitate a soft close - with each door closing with a very loud bang. From about 11pm the hall outside the room was clamoured with shouting, laughing and room hopping antics of a large crowd of guests. We had been located plonk in the middle of all the revelry. With no supervision/reception to contact to intervene, we had to go out and ask these guests to please keep the noise down. Of course this did not go down well. With armfuls of Gin bottles, it was clear that the guesthouse was being taken over as party central for the night. The bedroom itself was of the hip designer style; but stuffy. A very heavy duvet was the only option. A fan was left in the room to counteract temperature. Window could not be left open as it was right above the pedestrian walkway. A lighter blanket would have been a welcome option in the room. OVERALL: In the era of 'lessons to be learned', we cannot help but wonder why such basics are not foreseen. These are hospitality 101 issues - not rocket science. At first blush, the Firecastle/Hartes product offering seems to hit the mark. The website and marketing spiel is well considered, and conveys the message of comfort and good hospitality. We felt neither. The product experience bears no relation to the marketing blurb. Moreover, the product was very delineated - Hartes is Hartes, and Firecastle is Firecastle. There does not feel to be any cohesion between the two. The accommodation falls between these two stools. The overriding feeling we were left with is; "give us your money, and take what you're given" Some of the staff saved this review from the lowest possible score. We would single out Adam as being really good. However, the culture overall feels very 'tick box'. There was no visible leadership,no sense of who one would turn to for resolution of issues. In short, a disappointing and uncomfortable experience.

This place is an absolute gem. We were blown away by the decor and quirky little touches in the rooms. Not your typical Hotel…no reception, bar or restaurant but the rooms are over the most beautiful artisan shop/cafe/grocery shop. Stunning. Residents also get discounts in the shop!! We were looked after really well and had absolutely no complaints. Within walking distance of Kildare Village and Hartes Restaurant which also is divine Will definitely visit again.

Absolutely loved it! We were in the pink room (no 4) and it was gorgeous. Beautiful view of the church next door. The room was spotless. Fab bathroom with big shower. Nespresso coffee machine. Super comfy bed. Staff were fab! So helpful and pleseant. Absolutely love the shop / cafe downstairs. Great location. Right on the square in kildare. 3 min drive from kildare shopping village. Perfect for our girly shopping trip. I would 110% stay here again! I definitely recommend.

Loved this little gem of a boutique hotel stay! We were in the pink room (think no. 5), it was really tastefully decorated, also a lovely view to the church next door. It’s also a 10 minute walk to the Kildare shopping village, which is So handy for some retail therapy! Also received a 10% discount voucher which was handy. The cafe downstairs has lovely healthy dining options, we enjoyed our breakfast down there! Highly recommend !
