We are a couple planning a self drive in Botswana for 8 days. After that we fly to Mozambique for a few days.
From my research and our adventurous mind, we want to do a self drive with no tour operators or guides, camping, cooking ourselves and keep it as low cost as possible.
So far I found out it's cheaper to rent a 4x4 + self drive safari + camp, than a normal sedan car + camp + safari with a day tour. What do you think?
And it's more fun to do it yourself right? (although I saw some videos last night on youtube of animals destroying cars that were on the normal NP roads .... :)
Anyways, for August there is no 4x4 available to rent in Botswana (Maun) anymore.
So we are going to rent it in Johannesburg and deliver it in Maun, I think the one way fee is worth it.
Which 4x4 do you think is better for the NP, safer, practical and more stable:
KEA STX Trax (cheaper)
Nissan Single Cab 4x4
Is it ok not to camp inside the NP and go every day inside? The campings inside the NP are fully booked for August.
any advise would be appreciated!
