The little ranch cabin was a wonderful Mexican getaway! The house was very very cozy and the garden absolutely beautiful. It's fully furnished and has all the basics you would need to cook, clean and enjoy. There is also drinkable water provided at the cabin and anything extra you may need just a short walk to the main house. Between the hammock, lounger and grass there was no shortages of places to lay down and enjoy the nature all around. The property is well taken care of with lots of animals to get to know and acres to explore. The riding lessons are designed to put you at ease around the horses, and be able to enjoy the environment. It is a great place for a family to visit, our 19 month old son had such a great time getting to know all the dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, turkeys, bull, calf and of course the horses. He couldn't get enough of running around the garden and yard chasing whatever happened to walk by. The team of volunteers were all multi-lingual (Spanish, English, and French) and very helpful and kind. We highly recommend eating at the ranch, Sam is a great cook! We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner almost every day we were there, and couldn't get enough of the prepared meals and fresh coffee from the region. San Cristobal, the closest city to the ranch, is beautiful and full of amenities any tourist would dream of. Fully stocked and modern grocery store, along with a beautiful historic district and pedestrian only streets (don't forget to pack your walking shoes). There are wonderful sites to visit within a couple of hours of the ranch, like the waterfall El Chiflon, and the Lagunas de Montebello. We would advise for a sturdy car for the unpaved road up the mountain to the ranch (about 20 minutes), we had a midsize sedan and managed ok, but it was a bit tough at times. Overall this was an amazing experience that we are anxious to repeat, Chiapas has exceeded any of our expectations, the people are wonderfully helpful and kind, and we couldn't have asked for a safer, more authentic or more memorable first trip to Mexico! We just spent a wonderful day at Rancho Evergreen today. My boyfriend and me spontaneously decided to leave town and go on a ride with Sam and the beautiful horses. They immadiately responded to our request even though it was already the night before we wanted to go. Within 5 minutes everything was in order for the next day. We got a really detailled description on how to get there so the trip from San Cristobal took us 45 minutes. When we got there we had a coffee and a nice chat to get to know each other before we started working with the horses. Sam is really patient and a good teacher. We felt absolutely comfortable and enjoyed getting to know the horses before mounting. We learned a lot just getting the horses ready for our ride and already had a good realtion to our companions when we started the lesson. Before we went on our beautiful ride through the woods, Stephanie prepared lunch and again we got carried away talking about this and that. The 7 hours we spent at Rancho Evergreend flew away like nothing! If you are looking for a reaxing trip within Mexicans beautiful nature, away from busy streets and touristy places - this is the place to be. We highly recommend this experience. It was one of the best days we spent on our trip.

Nous avons passé 3 jours au ranch evergreen. Après un long trajet sur une longue piste (20 minutes) nous nous sommes retrouvés dans une ferme-ranch (que d'animaux !) dans un lieu tranquille et relativement isolé, dans un paysage magnifique entouré de collines. Nos hôtes se sont avérés très accueillants, Samuel prenant du temps avec ses filles pour nous faire decouvrir le monde du cheval, Stéphanie, très à l'écoute de notre bien être et toujours d'excellent conseil, nous préparant un excellent repas mexicain partagé en famille. Nous nous sommes également promenés en cheval et à pied, à la découverte du monde environnant. Ce lieu hors du temps nous a litteralement enchanté, le cottage où nous logions étant absolument charmant et confortable (spéciale dedicace au feu de bois du soir, bienvenu dans cette région fraîche comparativement au Yucatan). Une bonne escale avant la decouverte de la bouillonnante San Cristobal !

We are happy that we found this beautiful place and great family living there. We had wonderful time on the ranch. It is a magic to see how a small hummingbird drinks a nectar right in the garden, to hear the power of wind, to walk through the clouds, to smell the fresh, clean air and see the real beauty. The house is very nice, comfortable and cozy. You will find everything what you need. And even more. I was inspired to cook for my family even the dishes wich a usually make for a special occasion. Staying in this place is a special occasion by itself :-) For us it was not just a staying in the house. It was a big adventure filled with a laugh, fun, silence and piece at the same time. I am so happy that there in the ranch we had an experience with a horseback riding. But that is not just a story about horses it's a story about teacher. Thanks Sam! Stephanie and her family are very nice people. It was a big pleasure to be their neighbors). The place is wonderful! We enjoyed our staying a lot! Thank you!

We stayed one week at the Rancho Evergreen with our two small kids (10 months, 2 years) and it was probably the best we have done in Mexico. The place is absolutely beautiful and the family is amazingly friendly and helpful. We actually felt like we would become part of their family, had super-delicious meals at their table and learned how to take care of the animals and how to ride. At the same time we could enjoy the privacy of our cosy house, lay around in the garden and go for walks. The nature is really beautiful - the farm is set in a lush valley surrounded by mountains and benefits from a micro climate, so the temperature was never too hot or too cold (we stayed there in May) and there are banana trees next to Pines and raspberries. Our children felt at home from the first moment on and so did we. They could walk around on their own safely and play with the lovely daughters or the animals. Riding with Sam was also a great experience, since he truly understands the animals and cares a lot about them. So it won't be a surprise if I highly recommend anyone to go there.

Si vous aimez la nature, les chevaux, et plus généralement les animaux (car il n'y a pas que des chevaux mais aussi des chiens, des chats, des vaches...), cet endroit est enchanteur. L'accueil est parfait. Les repas sont délicieux. Les animaux y sont très bien soignés, aimés. Le lieu est très bien tenu; et on sent que chaque piquet de bois, chaque arbre, a été posé ou planté là avec attention et savoir-faire. On sent la passion de Sam et Stéphanie et de leurs filles, pour faire vivre un tel endroit. Un modèle dans le genre! La promenade à cheval dans la campagne environnante fut magnifique, mais tout autant l'ambiance générale, le jardin, les alentours... Un magnifique séjour avec mes enfants, que je recommande vivement à ceux qui souhaiteraient quelques jours en pleine campagne.

Nous avons passé 2 semaines au Ranch Evergreen et je dois dire que ce séjour était formidable. C'est un endroit très paisible et Sam et Steph avec leurs filles sont vraiment adorables. Si vous voulez passer un séjour au vert pour vous relaxer et vous rapprocher de la nature, cet endroit est fait pour vous.

Desde que llegamos hasta que nos fuimos nos sentimos muy cómodos en este sitio esplendoroso y con la maravillosa compañía de la familia anfitriona, que hace de tu estancia un momento lleno de calidez.

we had been looking for somewhere really rural in the San Cristobal region and sadly only found this place in our last few weeks of our two month stay. we emmersed ourselves in looking after the horses, brushing them, having lessons, riding, playing with the puppies , many delicious meals cooked on the outside oven with Sam and Stephanie and their girls and enjoying this beautiful corner of Chiapas.
