What sets the Blue Heron apart from the others is that we deliver both the location you’re searching for and the amenities you want. We provide bed linens, towels and a pantry stocked with common household and paper products, so your vacation begins immediately upon arrival. Unlike most vacation properties, there's no need to bring your personal effects from home to make the space your own. Throughout the renovation we focused on the features we need and expect when traveling for business or pleasure. Internet-reliant phones, laptops, tablets and TV's are part everyday life, so we made sure the WiFi signal is strong throughout the house. There are smart TV’s in both the living room and bar, as well as a Google home mini which plays music and retrieves info from the Internet. Additional electrical outlets were installed throughout the house, as well as USB ports in the kitchen and the bedrooms to charge wireless devices. We set up an MFC printer for those who need to work while on vacation or simply want to print the day's travel agenda or a new recipe. We also upgraded the “heart” of the house by adding a new boiler, new gas fireplace, as well as updated electrical and plumbing systems. However, rest assured, we didn’t sacrifice style. In homage to both the home’s fine, hand-crafted architectural details and scenic location we kept the decorating to a minimum; light, bright and comfy was the goal. Last, but not least, we turned our attention to good old-fashioned, hands-on fun. The 'Game Cubby' (tucked under the main staircase) stores and shares all of our favorite games. Outdoor fun includes 4 adult bikes, 2 kayaks, a paddle boat and yard games for afternoons of summer fun. An inflatable kiddie pool and sprinkler are provided to make sure the youngest members of your tribe stay cool & comfortable, regardless of the weather. The Blue Heron’s generous overall size offers a choice of entertaining options; from the cozy living and sitting rooms, the multi-season sun porches and awning-covered lake-view deck to the fire pit out back. There is space for the whole group to assemble both indoors and out, to gather in smaller, more intimate groups or to spend some quiet time alone. Altogether the size, vintage architecture and modern-day updates, in addition to the location, make the Blue Heron a unique find in this rural, lakeside community. This property checks off all our boxes and we think you'll agree! Enjoy seasonal outdoor activities, visit nearby attractions, or sip your way along our award-winning Wine and Ale Trails. If you’re looking for a more laid-back experience, relax on the front deck and enjoy the spectacular lake views or head out back for outdoor yard games.
